The truck is still down I have checked the fuses, coils on the relays and measured for voltage at the plug for L/P. No voltage there. Any thoughts? I see that the power goes through the ECM. Is this an ECM going? Going to take of the PnP tomorrow. Have to get ready for work Monday. So had to go to town for a drug test. Tomorrow is going to be busy also. Going to have to have it taken to Gr. P tomorrow also for the dealer next day.

Just checking, You do know that you only will have power for a couple seconds after you "bump" the key to start and leave it in the run position?

Again, sorry if you were aware of this, just trying to help.

Power @ L/P

Yes thought I would see some form of reduced voltage from the ECM that will run ethe L/P for 25 sec. tried min volt setting on the meter and nothing.

I never looked into it to deep, but they had to make it so the lift pump would not run when the engine was not running. This is a safety feature to prevent the lift pump from pumping all the fuel out if your in an accident.

In order to allow the truck to start they had to allow the pump to run enough to push fuel to the Injection pump, but still shutoff after X seconds if truck does not start.

Not sure if they use the Oil pressure signal to tell the ECM "yes the engine is running, turn on the lift pump" or not.

I had a problem where mine would not start after replacing a lift pump. I had a gauge with 3' of hose on it so I could see it from the windshild. I could see the lift pump running for 25 sec but it would not purge the air out of the system.

I messed with it for hours, got mad and took off the gauge before I had it towed to the dealer. before calling I tried once more without the gauge and it started right up :(

Seems the 3' of hose on the gauge was full of air, and even after 25 seconds the liftpump would be trying to compress this air in the hose and could not purge the system.

Anyway, do you see a voltage for those 25 seconds after bumping the key? I bet you could jumper 12V to the liftpump (after disconnecting the ECM wire to the liftpump!) and see if it runs that way.

That is what i was looking for was some reduced J-Fet power from the ECM there was NADA. So I have to suspect that the ECM is US.

I was just talking to the service advisor at the cryslurrrrr and he told me that it had the 0216 code and that means that the lift pump is bad. (Kaput) It just goes to show you what I have had to deal with since I got the truck. 0216 means ( big Bucks $$$$$$$$) VP-44 done in, not lift pump.

So what do I need to do, or tell them ????????? :-{}

no power @ L/P

Well the Cimins plug that goes on the end of the factory plug melted and caused the pooor conection for the L/P and that shut power off to it. There was the 0230 and 0216 codes there.

Has any one else had the mechs remove the Intake and exhoust valving to remove the injectors????? The other lot didn't this takes more time?????? I had them pulled so to pop test. Ordered an VP-44 from Blue Chip diesel so the dealer in G/P will put them in when it arrives. and will see what the injectors tests will say.
