I just downloaded a nifty little dash cam app for my iPhone and went to plug my car charger into the dash location power outlet and found it was dead. Tried the cigarette lighter and it too was dead. Checked fuses and found blown fuse for the cigarette lighter. Replaced the fuse and got power back to the lighter. I also have power to the console power outlet but not the dash outlet. I pulled and checked every fuse in the under hood power distribution box and all were good.

I don't smoke and have no problem using the lighter outlet for the phone charger, I just don't like the thought of something not working when it should. It's my OCD thing I think.

Anyone have any ideas what else I should check?

Thanks in advance, Peter

On my '04. 5 the power outlet at the bottom of the dash (not the lighter) quit working while the lighter and p/o in the console remained operating. Pulled the offending plug out and found out it had gotten too hot and the plastic had melted and the contacts separated. Bought a new plug from Dodge, plugged it in and it now works. The new style plug is constructed differently, presumably to eliminate the problem it had.

Godspeed,
Trent

Thanks for the tip. Been to busy fixing broken heaters with the cold snap in Georgia, so I thought I'd post it here first. Looks like ill be pulling the outlet when I get home to to check it out. Thanks for the advice!
