Cherry Creek Dodge. They flashed but didn't reset timing, or other computer related operations of the Cummins. I just bought the truck 2 months ago and did'nt know any better. still learning

I am having the same trouble with my automatic transmission. VALLEY DODGE in Boulder worked on it flashed both the ECM and PCM and now my diesel performs poorly and shifts even worse. Took it back and after starting it 198 times without a test drive reported that the computer did not report any problems.

Called Damiler Chrysler customer service and have been referred to either Broadway Dodge or John Elway on Wadsworth. Have an appointment Thursday, July 12 for them to look at it. Seems like all dealers are now 5 star, used to be that was based on customer evaluation but not anymore. But these two supposedly are Gold and Silver rated for diesel work. I will report back on that.

Sounds like a similar problem I reported on Monday and I have gotten little information in reply, so I am disappointed with this site so far.

Good luck with your problem.

I know some guys over at Christopher Dodge. They have done some good things for me in the past, and are constantly bothered by other dodge repair facilities for help. I have never heard anything positive about the people over at Cherry Creek, everyone I know avoids them like they have the plague. Oh, the main diesel guy's name is Rick.

They are an authorized Diesel Dynamics dealer, we all know Diesel Dynamics name is high on the list of performance diesels. I do not have any experience with that particular shop tho... . any of the CO members been there?

Also might want to talk to BigA (Alex) I heard he has a friend at CastleRock Dodge. The diesel shop will not be able to help you with reflash problems (not to my knowledge). So get a new flash from CastleRock and then see what happens. Then approach the diesel shop. Also get in touch with Alex... ... ...

Keep your July 12th appointment and see if they flash you. Get the number of the TSB they hit ya with. If this doesn't fix anything, see my above post regards to CastleRock Dodge and Alex. Then also see my email reply to you.

KatDiesel,

I just read your e-mail and replied. Thanks for the follow-up, I will keep all of you posted on this.

Rocky Mountain Cummins can do reflashes for a price and it actually sounds like they know what they are doing. They said they can set the trans to work with the tires on the truck by setting up the correct parameters in the computer.

I have not seem much on the Banks systems here on the TDR or should I say I have not found them yet. Does anyone have any thoughts on their products?

Next, since HyperTech is so well thought of outside of CTD why haven't they done anything for people with CTD? Are the Dodge automatic transmissions that bad? It seems like if HyperTech did come out with something for us it would be a gold mine for them.

Thanks for the replies, as I said I will keep you all posted.

LMontyCJ2a,

OK, now that I have had my say and gotten grounded again. I like being patient but DODGE really is not helping.

Anyway, the two dealers recommended by Dodge (see paragraph above and elsewhere) are Broadway and John Elway on Wadsworth (the old Chesrown dealer). But the local trans doctor that did not have the equipment to help me suggested Christopher Dodge and I have heard something and it was positive about Castle Rock. But in reading the other posts on this topic I would say it depends on whether you want to play with Dodge or find a good mechanic. My dad was a service manager for a Buick, Pontiac and GMC garage so I am willing to try a little more with Dodge.

I know Rocky Mountain Cummins can flash it for a price, but it should be Dodge's responsibility.

From what the top diesel mech. in Laramie, Wyoming said over the phone, the flashing is the problem. After they flash there supposed to reset the timing and other Cummins related parts of the computer.

but most Dealers don't. and Dodge dealers even if they have a diesel mech. won't boost up hp from stock.

And thank you to everbody for the help. :)

LMontyCJ2a,

So even though a flash ususally requires timing reset plus others the Dodge Boys do not complete the job. Perhaps the training they get is incomplete or ...

Good information to know. Have you checked with the RMCummins team yet?

Too bad Dodge is not monitoring this site. They could learn alot. By the way I have called the customer service number and depending upon who you get they might be helpful. One guy I talked to was outright rude, thought there was nothing I would do about it. He was wrong. :)

There is so much to learn about just the flashes and for me the transmission.

Please keep us posted on your efforts.

LMonty. This Is Keith's Friend in Bakersfield Ca.

I would Call Some of the Authorized Cummins Dealers around in your Area to see if they can Help. It Might cost you out of pocket expenses, But the Job would be done right.

My Truck has NOT been back to the Dealer where it was Purchased 3. 5yrs ago (HADDAD DODGE). The Dealer I take it to for Recall's and what not Now Is over in Taft Ca.

As For warranty Related Issues, Anything short of a Complete Engine and or transmission Failure, My Truck Never will see the Dealer Again. I do All Of My own Work it (What Little There Is now). My truck Problems Are Gone now since i have'nt been back to the dealer (HADDAD DODGE).

It Sounds Like there are alot of Dodge Dealerships in the West that are about as worthless as Chicken Crap on a Pump Handle!.

Go see if a Factory Authorized Cummins dealer can Find Out What's going on inside the Engine Computer.

Hope this Helps.

Doug.

Call me and I'll give a contact name at Castlerock dodge that does Awesome work. He reflased my truck... and boy did it make a huge difference.

The problem with local Diesel shops is that they are not authorized to do reflashes. 303-885-2875

I'd stay away from Elway Dodge on Arapahoe. They seem to be much better at creating new problems than fixing the problems the truck came in with. As for Cherry Creek Dodge, I don't even like to drive past the place.

I took mine to Castle Rock last year for warranty work and was happy with the work.

A good dealer in the Denver area

Why is so hard to find a good dealer? Perhaps we should just find a good mechanic and follow them where ever they go.

The dealer in Boulder was at a loss for my problem: Loss of power, poor performance, etc. .

So, after calling DC Customer Service again, I was referred to John Elway Dodge just off Wadsworth in Littleton. I took it to them and by God they found the main problem.

What it took was a good mechanic to recognize that there was a performance problem (in spite of what the computers told him) to take the time to track the problem down. The problem ended up being pin hole leak in the wastegate. New part ordered and installed, now it runs a lot closer to stock than it has in a while.

So, it depends on the mechanic not the dealer. Same dealer, John Elway, different set of mechanics. And results that actually are results and not "well the computer can find nothing wrong".

Go figure.

Anyway if you want to know the service writer and mechanic's name send me an e-mail and I will send it along.

Now, I know I need guages and I have read Ted Jannetty's laundry list that includes the order for upgrades. So I will be getting some guages first. I also plan on getting the trans looked at outside of DC to get another opinion.
