Hello,

I have a buddy that is having a problem with the truck he just bought. Here is a quick overview(I am at work). This guy had 04. 5 truck with TS mp8. sold it and picked up 05 truck. Has only had it about a week. Called me to see where to start troubleshooting. He sasid it is just a dog, no power. He kept his TS mp8 from the old truck and put it on this one and it made no difference what setting it was on. He called TS and they could only tell him to try changing the fuel filter and see if that made any difference. . Well it did not.

When questioning him on some things, when he brought it home he was using the cruise (which works) but noticed close to home that the cruise light flashed a couple of times. Well now it is on even when not using the cruise. HE tells me it is also showing NO codes to read. !

He told me it has banks intercooler and intake horn on it. This is all I know right now. How do you check if it is the lift pump or pop off valve?

ANy suggestions since it is not throwing a code.

Thanks

I think I would check the connectors for the cruise control, MAP sensor. If the MAP sensor is bad, then the truck will act like you are describing because it is not getting the proper input for fueling demand.

The connectors may be dirty/corroded, especially if he washed the engine.

Don't know what a pop off valve is but I do know that the 05 is known for blowing the sides off the intercooler as they are plastic... . although with a banks cooler that should not be an issue any more. Unless when they installed the Banks they may have not gotten a clamp on right. Is it blowing a lot of black smoke. Usually if it has lost boost it will smoke a lot, or throw a 299 code which will cause it to limp and it won't go over about 1300 rpm. It requires a Power Pup to clear the code or to go to the dealer. 299 codes are a b*&%# to get rid of. I would be suprised if it had a bad MAP sensor this soon. Keep us posted Okay.
