Has there been any more updates on this? My truck did the same thing to me when I started it up today.

No power steering *barely steered at all, actually =P*, and the brakes would hardly even budge. It sounded like something was buzzing at the front of the engine bay, but I couldn't pinpoint the sound. Shut the truck off, waited about a minute, and fired it up. Had a bit better situation, but as soon as I got backed out the driveway and tried taking off, I had almost no steering again and ended up on the snowbank at the end of the driveway. Actually, that was a good thing, because the bumpsteer seemed to have fixed the problem!

Checked my vacuum lines and PS levels, all seems ok, but I want to be certain... I'm supposed to be taking this truck on a road trip this weekend, so any additional advice or tips/tricks/fixes would be great!

If i remember right there was a documented problem with the trucks and the power steering when the units were cold. When I start the wifes 2000 it takes it a minute or so to warm the fluid up enough to have PS/PB... my 99 has a bumper gaurd on it and I wound up having to put a new steering box from PSC in it.
Actually just had my 99 for some reason spew all of its fluid through the hydroboost unit... filled it back up and havent had a problem since.

Apparently she's just throwing temper-tantrums on me. The steering and brakes have been fine, but I blew a sidewall while it was sitting in work's parking lot, so now I'm fighting that... Do you have any idea how hard it is to find new 315/75/r16's in a small town like I live in?!?
