I checked all the fuses, traced wiring as far as I can see it without taking the dash apart. Or, does it have a fuse that is NOT in the fuse panel under the dash??

Before I make this a major project, does any know the routing of the wire that supplies the upper dash power outlet socket?

I'm leaving town next Saturday for a two week trip, and it would sure be helpful if that power plug worked all the time. My GPS takes forever to recycle and get going again when it gets turned off.

And, my drink cooler works a lot better when it has power on while I am out of the truck with the keys in my pocket :-laf

Thanks for any help out there.....

under the hood ther is a big black box on the drivers side behind the battery

pop the top and it will show you the rite fuse for the top power port

it's a 20 amp fuse

I had mine go out two times as I have a cb radio pluged in to it

but the fuse box is under the hood

good luck and god bless

You may be working from the wrong end of the problem. You need to remove the power outlet from the dash and check the pigtail connector to the wiring harness for voltage. First you need to disconnect the minus cable from the battery and a set of external snap ring pliers with 90 degree ends small enough to fit inside of the plug. Insert them and squeeze to release small spring clips while working back and forth with a rocking motion while pulling out will release so that you can pull the plug and wiring from the dash. Below is a more detailed drawing that will probably help. I had to replace my power outlet and got it from BBC Dodge, Seattle (800-992-9998) for about $11 + ship.

A Super Big Thanks to both of you guys. Sorry I didn't reply earlier. Have been having issues with the internet.

It is things like this that make our subscription to this forum worth while.

Going to keep this truck for a very long time, and I want it to all work like "brand new". :)

Pulling out tomorrow morning for a 2 week respite from the Arizona heat :-laf
