New 600's for $6500

All winter fuel not the same.

I've recently been moonlighting on weekends hauling cows(three kids in college) with a 2001 Pete 379 Cat 3406. I was surprised to not see a pyrometer in this truck. Is the 3406E smart enough to protect itself from high E. G. T's?

Only if there is a thermocouple.

The KW that I drive at work has a full guage package EXCEPT the pyro. WTH? One of the most important ones, and it isn't there. Go figure. Gonna try to talk the boss into getting one. Have a C-12 in that one.

I see many big trucks without pyros. CAT, Cummins, Detriot, Mack, Volvo there seems to be no pattern to which trucks have them and which do not. I think it is up to the OEM weather a pyro goes on or not.

When I worked at the co-op only one big truck had a pyro in it. It was a International, the Pete didnt have one, and neither did the Freightliners. The Pete and Int'l. both had N14s and the Freightliners had smaller CATs in them.

my old pete 379 had a 3406C , and another had a 3406E. . the E model would never over temp, even when I tried to lug it, it would never go over 700-800°f post turbo. cruising down the highway at 80-95 MPH, it would run about 400-500°. . around 70 it would run about 600°. I am surprised that your cow truck has a speedo. Petercar makes a "Cow Taxi Package"... Where there is a big clock in place of the speedometer, 13 or 18 speed, either with 2 overdrive gears, and 3. 08 rears! haha! Aint no feelin' like Cow-mobilin! Whoop Whoop!

Figure it this way. How many drivers on the road these days would know how to run based on the pyro reading? From that figure how many would actually care about it? :-laf
