Can any of you auto trans guys give me some advise with my DTT valve body? My problem is at 1/2 throttle I don't get any rpm drop when my trans shifts from second to third, light throttle is OK and full throttle is OK around 600 rpm drop. The 2-3 shift is also early at 1/2 throttle and very soft. I have talk to Bill many times and I have had the pan off at least 8 times but I am not getting anywhere and I'm getting vary frustrated.

P. S. I am not cutting Bill down he is great and has given me alot of help but he is not in the shop today (saterday) and I finally have a day off to try something else.

Thanks John

I don't have an answer to your problem but if I had the pan off 8 times and still no solution, I would be asking for a new valve body.

Please don't take this as a slam, I'am just stateing that is what I would do.

Ron

Please don't think I'm trying to start an arguement because I'm not. DTT transmission products are the best. I have used them in other trucks and they worked great. I'm just trying to figure out if I have a problem or not.

:( I guess your timing could have been a little better, the Kondolays and Piers took the day off as well and came down here for the dyno event in Tacoma.

Thanks Vaughn I know if Bill was around he would be quick with some help. Maybe I am too fussy or maybe am just use to the 91% convertor I had in my old truck, but I am wounding if it is a pressure thing because it has good rpm drop at full throttle but not at half.

Please don't think my reply was a slam. I think Bill has good products and good customer service. The statement was just that!! If I had my pan off that many times, I would be asking for a different valve body, and I have done the same with a different product in the past. Maybe you over torqueed or the previous owner of the valve body over torqueed the valve body and something is out of alignment. Now that was not a slam either as if you know anything about after market valve bodies most of them are rebuilds.

Ron since my truck is new I sent DTT my valve body to be reworked and I used the torque specs, out of an 02 service manual to torque it down. If someone with an 89% tc could do a test for me that would help alot. Accelerate from a dead stop at 1/2 thottle and notice what rpm the 1-2 shift accures and how much rpm drop there is and then notice at what rpm the 2-3 shift accures and how much rpm drop there is. On my truck my 1-2 sift happens at 2500 with about a 400 rpm drop but the 2-3 shift happens at 2200 with not even a 100 rpm drop.

Here's some #s

boatman, I ran my truck thru the gears for you and heres what I found. Take off, shift to sec. at 2100, drops to 1750 aprox. go to 2100 shift to 3rd drops to aprox. 1750 rpms. I tryed this several times, at 21 to 2300 rpms, min. drop was at least 300 rpms up to 4 or 450. Hope this helps. 89% TC. BTW. Chuck. :)
