2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission no speedo on 241DHD

ANy body got any ideas? I tried another sending unit and still nothing. What can happen to the gear that is actually in the transfer case? Not the one that is pulled out.

Are you sure it's not something else? Pull the vss unit & attach a drill to the end of the gear. See if it registers with the ignition on - you may have to have it running...

Well I took a known working one out of MY DLD and it did the same thing. ANything in there to line up? What is someone had split the case? I mean the truck drives fine, transfer case shifts fine. I was going to pull it and see drive it with a drill or something next. THanks for the help

is this in your '97? I thought the later ones used the tone ring in the rearend for the speedo. what year truck is the transfercase out of? It may not have the drive gears in the case to run the speedo if it is from a late model truck.

It is for a 1997. The new transfer case had a VSS unit in it.

They do have to line up. I had the same thing happen to me when I removed the transfer case.

How did you make them line up?? I mean it goes in all the way.

I think there are marks that line up when you twist the housing.
