Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) No Speedometer

Truck is a 97,2500,4x4,auto. Belongs to a buddy. Speedometer would work fine sometimes and then start jumping around other times. I replaced sensor on the tailshaft housing and the one on the bottom left of the transmission case. Now have no speedometer at all, needle wont move. Ideas please?

Is everything else functioning properly? If not, check your crankshaft position sensor.

The problem mite be the speedometer itself. There is away to check it out but I don't kwow it besides taking an ohmms reading.

Actually the truck has a multitude of problems, he has really not kept it up very well. Whoever he had doing maintenance on it before didnt know what the heck they were doing. Fram oil filter, and when they changed the transmission fluid they put in Dextron instead of ATF+. Originally he brought it to me to replace the fuel shutoff solenoid. I changed that and the relay out, turned the idle up some, starts like a champ now. Then he told me about what happened with the transmission and said seemed like it was slipping sometimes. I changed the fluid and adjusted the bands. So far when I've driven it it shifts fine, but he said it was going from first to high sometimes when he took it the other day?
