Just installed 275's in my truck. It was a straight forward procedure but now... ... . darn thing won't start. I've cracked the lines at the injectors and got fuel comming out, but try and try and try it still won't start.

Any ideas?????

Make sure you leave the intake air horn off when trying to start it up the first time after an injector install. Blled lines till you see fuel and it should fire up. Hope this helps.

Where did you crack the lines at? Injection pump or cylinder head? Try a little ether. I know, I know, tsk tsk. But, it works! Just be careful with it (unplug the heater grid if ya want, with these warm temps it should start without them).

It's dark now but I did just try a squirt of Etha and she fired up and ran like crap, smoked real bad. Is the smoke because of not having the intake on and hence no boost?

I will play again tomorrow.

It's gonna smoke after getting it going, due to some engine oil getting down the holes during the install. If you got it running. , put the intake and remainder of stuff back on and it should fire up and run and smoke clear up quickly when running again. Hope this helps.

OK truck will only fire up with a shot of etha. I put the intake back on loosely and reved the motor slightly, it still smokes real bad, white smoke. I let it idle for about 3 minutes and smoke never cleared up, also after shutdown it would not fire back up. It runs like its not firing on all cylinders. Kinda revs like a 4 cylinder gasser with 2 of the plug caps removed.

Lift pump is good, I am getting a good stream of fuel from the injector lines. Just took all injectors back out and checked the install. Everything was good. Put back together, still only starts with etha. Took for a run down road and smoke does not clear up, also runs real clunky. When I got back to house it was almost up to operating temparature, when I stut off it still does not restart. I am going to put in old injectors now and see what that does.

I can't say I know anything about electronic systems but I do know about mechanical fuel systems. I had the same problem with a John deere tractor that was my toy/tractor pull tractor. I put in a brand new set of injectors and it reacted EXACTLY like your truck. It only took a few minutes to realize the injector pump could no longer put out enough pressure to pop off the injectors. If it was started on ether the pump was running at more rpms than when the stater turned it and it would sort of run. Rebuilt the pump and all was fine. Also have had injectors that pull too much fuel into the return that would do that. If too much went into return lines or if return line was blocked it shut down the fuel. Sucks when your ride doesn't want to go when you do.

I forgot to mention, old injectors get weak so they will pop off at a lower pressure, then new ones should be at specs, so if you pump is a little weak(internal wear, leakage), that is why it doesn't put out enough pressure to pop off your new injectors when you crank it with the starter.
