Hackamore, my truck seems to be ok now but I still think that I need more driving time(more starting and stoping cycles) to be sure. What do you mean by" pull it and pop the clutch"? Jump start it? I've never jump started mine but your starting problem sounds just like mine. I think I have an airleak too. It dosent look like you have an aftermarket fuel system on your truck, what are you runnin? My fuel psi seems to be low right now, 9-10 psi @idle and 5@wot from this latest Napa lift pump.

Yes sir jump starting it. Fuel pressure is at 13-15# regular and 11# at wot. I'm running the stock set up for the lift pump with a mechanical gauge. Did you get the reflash done on yours? Can you tell the difference? thanks, Fabian

My truck has done the crank- no start a couple of times. It is always a warm motor and has given no reason for acting up. I think the computer just loses its mind. Randy:confused:

Hackamore, I drove my truck from Maine to NYC on Sat 404miles and it ran great. I ran a stiff mix of Opti-lube and it seemed to get good mpg. I shut the truck off hot a couple of times and it started right up. I cant tell any real difference in performance, I dont think there is supposed to be though. Hackamore when you start your truck and the lift pump primes how much pressure do you show on the guage? On my first lp I showed like 11psi when I cycled the key most of the time but now it showes 3-4 psi most of the time? Rattler, I would suggest the reflashes I did if your having the hot start problem also check the filter bowl area for any leaks...

start no start sypmtons are a dying injection pump. If it was new, it might be not rebuilt correctly.

If your truck doesn't start when it's hot, it's an IP headin' south without a return ticket...

All the time??? Man I dont know, she's a runnin son-a-the-*****... I dont think I have the hot start issue anymore and she pulls good all over the powerband. We'll see... From the sounds of it there is some truth to the tsbs and the reflashes for these problems. And, the pump is the original pump not a rebuild.

@#$%! man it did it today!!! I was driving around Statin Island and the truck wasnt quite up to running temp, I pulled into Lowes went inside and came out 10min later. I cycled the key and no lift pump so, I bumped the starter which usually starts the lp cycle but no lp?? I cycled the key another few times w no luck, I tryed cranking it a little but no fire. Then, I bumped the starter again and got the lp to cycle, I let it cycle for mabey 15 sec then I fired her up and she started????? WTF man, can anyone tell me what is going on here... ... Has this happened to anyone? Dose this sound like a air leak somewhere?#@$%!

The first time mine did this was probably 5 years ago, the last time was about a year ago. I am still on the original IP. I still think the computer just loses its mind. Randy:rolleyes:

Corey, My fuel pump is the stock one from Cummins. When I bump my starter it goes to 14 psi. My aftermarket fuel system made a big difference in helping the lp to not have to work so hard to delivere the fuel. I have no restrictive banjos, bigger lines, no in tank screens, bigger draw straw. I had a gauge when it was stock and saw the MAJOR diffs with the Vulcan system. I knew right away when I drove it and saw the pressures NEVER fluctuate any longer. No matter how hard I get on it. Carrying 4,000 lbs wot, no difference.

With my lp relocated it is a lot easier to change it out (while wife goes in and gets hamburgers) Plus you don't need to find a dealer for the sealing washers any longer if you get a leak. Hose and clamps available everywhere.

Jag I hear ya, I think I've just been prolonging the inevitable... . I think i'll do the vulcan big line kit/ get rid of the banjos and get an airtex on there/relocate the lp. I just dont want to pop for the air dog or a fass, too much, and I really dont think I need those If I stay stock or close to it. Did you leave your filter in the stock location? What vulcan kit do I need to get rid of the banjos?

Corey, Just go with the big line kit with the pump relocation near the tank.

It was at only 13 psi with the big line kit and no banjos. When I finally put the draw straw in, I removed the in tank screens and got 1 psi more .

I'm on my second lift pump now for 45,000 miles, pressure always at 14 psi. I carry a second oem replacement pump behind the seat just in case.

BTW, I think it's very important to have a primary 30 micron pre lift pump filter. Called a primary filter it keeps dirt out of the L/P and helps the oem filter to not get clogged as soon.
