Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) no start some times

I'm not getting pull-in voltage at the fuel shut-off sol. every time I try and start it . It's a 97 1 ton egr engine . Replaced the shut-off sol. , where does the voltage come from for the pull-in on the sol ? The starter only has 1 big and 1 small terminal on it .

The wounderfull fuel shutoff solenoid. Look at the top of the firewall towards the center of th etruck from the brake booster. There should be two and they are at the top of the firewall next to each other. There are several places offering replacements, I got mine 5+ yrs ago from dealer an dit still works, can also try Radio shack, about any other electronics place, and more. Hope this helps you find it. If not let me know and I will try to get pics.

Sorry for confusion, there are two relays on the firewall, not solinoid. I sent you a PM.

The 2 relays you are talking about here, 1 big, 1 small. Is one for start up and the other for shutdown for the solenoid?? Thanks. Mike

The small relay is for the fuel heater. The large one is for the fuel solenoid. The fuel solenoid draws 40 amps. If you use the one from Radio Shack it is only rated for 30 amps. It will work, but may not last as long as it should. The stock relay is rated for 70 amps. You can get one from Allied for less than $10 here:

No relay for the hold coil. It is a low current coil that is connected directly to the ignition switch on circuit.

That's the one. You can regard the relay as a spare now.
