My son has a 03 w 6 spd and is having problem w/starting unless clutch pedal is in the right position, but not fully pushed in. any suggestions what the problem might be. 94k on trk
The trickiest part about this switch is disconnecting the pigtail from the harness. IIRC red keeper first THEN squeeze to disconnect. Remove the white keeper. Slide the switch out away from M/C just a bit, then snap it off of the shaft and pop the other end off. Take it too the bench, pull the slider back and see it the contacts are nasty, clean and test with meter ON/OFF when slid. DO NOT TRY to remove M/C pushrod from M/C.
In this video at about the 30 minute mark, shows the switch R&R.
i wired my switch with a jumper connector. starts with out depressing clutch . just be carefull to make sure trans is in netural before trying to start it. i never leave my truck in gear i always use the parking brake.
I bypassed the switch so I can start the truck while standing on the ground. Just be sure it's in neutral. This is how all the trucks were in the 70s. It also lets you safely crank the truck off a railroad crossing with the starter in the event you run out of fuel.
