i have 99 3500 2wd auto i changed the transfer pump due to low fuel pressure now it won't start when hot also the temp gauge reads slow and temp voltage light will not time with key it will start if you unplug temp sensor and transfer pump this is my only way to work and taking my son to school and picking him up runs great when it starts please help if you can mods 4in exh auto meter gauges thanks rob

Hmm. . First place I would say to start would be to get some good contact cleaner (radio shack tv tuner cleaner works well) and disconnect, hose down, and reconnect as many connectors as you can find. I would start with the connectors that are giving you problems, and the ECM connectors on the firewall. I`m not too much on 24v motors, with all that extra computer control, there are a lotta things that can get mixed up.

if you can elaborate about your truck a bit more, someone else may be able to help out. . eg. . mileage, any codes, previous problems. .

good luck

ohya, Welcome to the TDR.

disconected both battery's cleaned all eletrical conecters there was no change but now the wait to start light will not come on no matter what i do. This problem started when i changed the transfer pump, after changing the pump the light would not time with the key and the temp gauge would not read until the light went out. count to 10 and the gauge would start to work but the truck still wouldn't start without unplugging the temp sensor, transfer pump or both. I checked all my ground wire's all good. I have no loss of power dose not smoke when it starts hot or cold i still get 17. 7mpg i'm lost, if anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks rob

In looking at the schematic, the pins for the wait to start, transfer pump control, grid heaters, etc are all located close together in the ECM connector. Wait to Start is pin 37, Transfer pump is 35, grid heaters are 29 and 47. It sounds like the ECM connector is the dirty one. Remove and clean and then put it back on. All of the symptoms you are having point to either the ECM or that connector.
