I just got through doing some work on my truck... oil change,serpentine belt,air filter, and I cleaned the battery terminals... NOW it wont start... I did have the hood open with the light on for 5 hours and the radio... . now even if I jump it off it will turn over but wont fire... ... What did I screw up???? Is ther some way I could have screwed up the computer??? Going out to buy new Batterrys now... :{ :{ :{ 99 24 v

Welcome to the site , with the limited info it sounds like the batteries , look at other posts each time that some one posts on a thread for the first time , at the bottom of there post you can see the details of there truck , yr. modle modifications and what ever they want you to see .
Go back to the user control pannel and fill inthe info on your truck , it will make it easyer to answer your ???
How old were the batt. ?
Most of the jumper cables I see people pull out have a lot of insulation but if you look at the ends there isn't much copper wire , you need a lot of copper , like welding cable to move that many amps , about a 1/4" of wire .
Let us know if the new batteries worked .

Leaving the hood open (I take it you have a light for the engine bay) and radio could wear down the batteries but if you shorted one of the positive connectors while cleaning the battery terminals you could of damaged something electric.

Hopefully it is just your batteries.

If the batteries don't work see if your lift pump is pumping fuel.

If the pump is working it is probably something electric (fuse, PCM, ECM).

Problem Solved

Hey there... The batteries were the culprit. I took them out and charged them for awhile. Tested them and they only came up to 10. 8... Wich kinda suprised me 'cause I hadn't had any problems up until Saturday. Oh well I bought one new cheapo from Auto Zone ... . and ordered 2 Interstates 1000CCA's today. . Hopefully I won't have to worry about batteries for awhile now!! Thanks for Your Replies... I guess that diesel needs lot's of juice to turn it over... . Now she's all serviced up and ready to go!!! I took a look at my jumper cables to ... They are pretty whimpy. Guess I'll look for another set... . Thanks again
