Can Anyone Help Me Out With Some Insight To Why My Power Steering Went Out Allong With Power Brakes, My 99 Was Warming Up For 10 Minutes, Pulled The E Brake And Went To Turn The Steering Wheel, And Nothing It Went Dead, Allong With A Abs Like, Pulsing From The Brake Peddel, then No Brakes, Rock Hard Peddel. No Steering No Brakes, My Truck Is Out Of Service. Does Anyone Out There Have Some Suggestions Where To Start? Anything Would Be Greatfully Appreciated, Thanx M Nickel

sounds like your p/s pump died. the brake assist is powered

by the power steering pump also, explaining the brakes going too.

its possible the pump shaft broke.

pull your pump and check the shaft.

sounds like the fluid got low and now its air bound. suck any remaining fliud out with a turkey baster and replace with valvoline syn power. If it does not regain steering right away, follow the hose from the pump up to the brake valve, disconnect it at the union and loop the hose back into the pump reservoir. have someone else start the truck and you hold the hose and watch for oil flow, this will allow the air to be purged very easily. If you got flow, reconnect, if you don't have flow you have a failed drive coupler. i had to do this procedure when i installed a new pump. it just would not purge the air out on its own!

You can jack the front of the truck off the ground. Then turn your steering lock to lock several times. It purged the air out of my steering. Jeff

Do a search on hydroboost - the nitrogen cylinder may have burst and pushed fluid out. Replace it if so - it's for emergency braking if engine is off. You can refill fluid, raise RPM and turn lock to lock to purge air - then replace it. Will work fine (except emergency). Replace it if burst. Replace it.
