My father has a 95 12-valve 5-speed. I had the truck before he did, and had a set of 3k Gov. Springs. Well, I took them out and sold them to a friend, because my dad wanted the truck totally stock. Here is the deal, when trying to start off, the truck has no power whatsoever, can't even start off in 1st without giving it gas. Going down the road, and just normal driving conditions, the truck feels like it has 400 HP, runs great. I am thinking the problem is in the gov. springs, they are a stock set out of a friends truck. Do I need to tighten the heck outta them?? I tried 2 clicks, and it didn't help any, in fact the power may have decreased, but the idle did increase. I have the idle set at 900 rpm. Also, when starting the truck in the morning, it will not idle if you take your foot off the gas, after about 15 seconds, it is fine. What do I need to do to fix the truck?? Anyone had this problem before??

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Peace,

Willie

Willy, go thorough the side plug when checking the springs, when you do it like that the pump is in the run position, back the springs off then tighten them till the first "snap click" check it by backing it off and tightening it several times so you can get the feel for it, one you've got the initial click feel down go in two more clicks, so your will be at initial plus 2 clicks and try that. If the springs at a bit too loose it won't like to idle with you foot off of it when it's first started cold. I'm guessing you put everything back together right and all the pieces are there.

Thanks Jim, the only thing I didn't put back in were the 2 little shims, lost them, after i took the set out the first time when I put the PDR 3k kit in, maybe that is my problem. If all else fails, I will get my 3k set back from him. I am going back in on friday to try to adjust the problem out, we will see how it goes.

Peace,

Willie

Took the springs out and inspected them, put them back in and tightened them 2 clicks, problem solved, heck I even started off in 3rd lol. I can't thank you enough for the advice Jim.
