As I was driving home this evening, my truck power to the accelerator pedal, it just went to an idle, rpms went down to 800, sounded normal, but I had no throttle whatsoever. Fortunately nobody was around, I drifted to the shoulder and then the throttle kicked back in. This whole ordeal was only about 30 seconds long. Naturally the check engine light was on, so when I got home, I pulled up a code P0121- TPS voltage does not agree with MAP. Does anybody know what this is? Im hoping it is something minor... .

Your gonna need to replace the APPS. You can try resetting it but usually only works for short amounts of time before it goes bad again.

Mine did the same thing as yours last weekend. after doing the checks by the book the apps was no good. she was about $530 from the dealer. its very easy to change out. Just be careful not to break the cruise control cable plastic retainer clip. as i did. had to replace the whole cabl. another $40. hope this helps

Check eBay. You might find one for a lot less than $500 bucks. You can also order a new APPS from Hoesli Diesel for around $370. 00.

i was afraid it might be that, thanks for the information. I will check ebay before i go to the dealer for it. I reset it lastnight thinking that was the problem myself, I let the batteries sit unplugged all night and hooked them back up this morning and pumped the throttle 3x, I'm assuming it should be alright for a little while, it ran fine today. I'm hoping it will hang in there for a few months actually, atleast til may, when i'm done with college; tuition sucks. But then again I dont want it to leave me stranded. Anyways, thanks for the help

From what I hear it rarely gives up altogether. Mine got to the point where I had to shut down the engine and restart. It would go for hours/days before screwing up again. Just got to be real annoying. Good luck!

For what it's worth changing out the apps is a very easy process. 2 phillips head screws and about 6 10mm headed bolts and its off.

I do have one question concerning the removal of the cable off of the old apps. Is there a better way to do that than just prying it off? Is the retainer supposed to come apart somehow? I ended up breaking a peice of it off because I though it was supposed to seperate somehow and I couldn't quite figure it out.
