We are better but
PW, this is a war. Both a Psychological War (OTWKA Terrorism)and a fighting, shooting, killing war with lots of bloodshed. The BIG problem is that the massive amount of bloodshed is usually onesided. Something I have seen in the past when dealing with Raghead Extremists is they do not like things to continually escalate. They take their shot and run like Hades. When it comes their turn for Payback we always stop short of total all out warfare on every level. In the few instances when we as a country intentionally escalate the exchange beyond any normal amount of retaliation, their activities subside for a long, long time. IOW the harder we strike back, the less likely they retaliate in kind. I personally do not look at it like we are being a BIG BULLY Country kicking sand in their faces because we can, we do it because we have to in order to preclude further violence.
We need to get that KILLER INSTINCT back where we take tons when they take a pound. When dealing with extremists one has to be an extremist and up the ante to a point where your opponent hesitates. These jerks have our number. We are Mr. Clean Marine so to speak. We are already the Joke of the World, nothing short of Kicking Hiney BIG Time will upset anyones applecart.
Although it was way before my time, I can recall seeing WWII films of Dresden when we bombed it into the stoneage killing thousands of innocents and guilty alike. Wasn't long before we knocked off the Third Reich, but so many innocent lives were lost. Two extremely good examples occurred only a few short months later in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. 100's of thousands of innocent lives incinerated nay vaporized instantly with a bright flash of light. It broke the will of the Japanese to fight knowing how vulnerable they were. There is very little if any difference in the resolve of the Japanese to that of these Middle Eastern religious zealots. You have to break their will to fight if you wish to stop the violence. Make them understand it is a LOSE-LOSE proposition if they continue the attacks. Yes we will be looked upon as the BAD GUYS, but what difference does it make to the world, we already are the BAD GUYS at least we would have earned the reputation. The only difference would be in the conscience of the Lollygagging, Mambypamby type liberal socialist Holier than thou types. In anycase, we would be left alone for a very long time so long as we also stayed out of the affairs of others from that point onward, something the Liberals couldn't do because of their PC conscience.
I think we already know exactly who was behind this, but once the proof is found and only then, we should vaporize them, their camels, their women, their children, their dogs, their livestock, even the snakes, lizards, scorpions and every other living creature in the desert around them w/o a trace of having ever existed. Then and only then will you have gotten their attention. If you nor anyone else has the stomach to push the button to get the job done, believe me I do. I would voluntarily offer up my own conscience to the deed as I have no doubts I will sleep as easy at night afterwards as I do right now.
Even a CO (Conscientious Objector) the likes of WWI hero, and highly decorated MOH awardee, Tennessean Sgt. Alvin C. York came to this realization when he almost singlehandedy killed dozens and captured 100's of Germans, while wiping out several German machine gun nests. When asked afterwards why he did it, his response was, "to save the lives of his buddies!" York killed a few in order to save many even though killing was totally juxtoposed to every religious belief he held! This why these Zealots need to be relieved of life with as much predjudice as any single human can muster, so that many more lives may be spared.
I do not nor would I ever propose harming innocent persons of any faith, only those persons who are or can be proven guilty of this heinous act along with those who have willfully and knowingly aided, abetted, or harbored same.
