My wife has my 2003 2500 4x4 in Texas while she is visiting our kids while I am waiting for delivery of our 2006 Mega Cab 2500 4x4 here in the Midwest. She keeps hearing a clunking noise around the left front wheel when going between 30 and 40 miles per hr. She took it to a local garage and they pulled off the Left front wheel, checked the brakes and found no problems. The truck has 55,000 on it. Not much to go on but I thought maybe someone else may have had the same experience. Thanks for you replies.

Could be the start of a wheel bearing going bad. Try driving along a jersey barrier with the window down and the radio off. The concrete wall reflects sound well and you can usually locate the location of the noise. Works even better on driver side cause you are right there. Hope it's not the hub though. I just replaced one on the passenger side last weekend. $216 for Timken hub and about 3 hours for a second gen. job. On 3rd gen. are the front rotors pressed on to the hubs with the studs? Good luck! Let us know what you find.

I have been experiencing the same problem. Clunking noise, everything appeared to be fine. Turns out it is my axle u-joint. Now I just have to get off my butt and fix it!

If it really is the u joints(I believe it is) my dealer says they are covered 7/70,000 with $100 deductible. I plan to have a Texas dealer in Lubbock check them all out and fix.

I had the sames problem and the dealer replaced both f\U joints under warranty. If you jack p the left front wheel and rotate the wheel by hand it is very evident where the problem is comming from

will do!

I lived in Yukon Okla for 12 years. I miss your much warmer winter weather. Thanks for your help.

This is off topic but, yeah the winters are not too bad. The wind can be a royal pain though! I think the wind is even worse in Yukon than it is here in the Tulsa area!

We had a really mild one this year. Except for a week or so that dipped into the single digits, I don't think we stayed below freezing for more than a handful of days.

Thanks to all of you for your quick and ACCURATE advice. Dealer in Slaton Texas replaced left front u-joint. My wife said she paid the $100 DEDUCTIBLE. They didn't tell her the total cost. I am curious what it would have cost without the warranty but am very glad it is fixed. Thanks for you help!
