Yeah Toast!

I am looking for a good but inexpensive set of noise canceling headphones that I can hook up to a walkman and listen to cds while mowing the yard. I am not going to shell out the $300 for the Bose. I am looking for something in the $40 -$50 range. Got any ideas?

Bose QuietComfort 2

I have a set of Bose, I won in a random drawing at a trade show in Chicago (McCormick Place), about a month ago. Had no idea what they're worth (I might be pleasantly surprised). NIB, except I tried them on my head, to see how they fit (never even plugged them in - I would test before selling). Seem really nice, but I'll probably never use them (I work in a quiet office).

Yep, thats what they sell for new. Like other Bose stuff, I am sure they are worth it.

Somebody must know of some good inexpensive ones?

Why do you want to sell them? Just keep them and use them. I would make you an offer, but they are way out my $ range. Like I said, I am looking for something around $50. I just want a set I can mow with and not have to worry about getting dusty. :D

Jim,

Could you use a set of earbud headphones with a set of decent earmuffs (like what folks use for firearms, cutting with chainsaws, etc... )?

Matt

I sit on commercial mowers all day.

Get you some Peltor Worktunes. They have a 22db reduction, AM/FM and the batteries last a long time. Pretty much every landscaper in this area uses them when operating equipment.

You can buy them in lots of places, but usually if you look hard, they are buried on the shelf somewhere at Wal-Mart in the lawn and garden section. Wal-Mart price is 50 bucks. The Wal-Mart ones are sold by AO Safety, but they have the Peltor label on the bottom of them.

From What I understand,, True "Noise Canceling" headphones take ambient noise, and alter the sound with a sound wave exactly opposite of what it picks up,, effectively canceling the noise.

If they can't pick the noise, and respond with a noise cancellation audio wave, they aren't "Noise Canceling" headphones, but, just fancy ear muffs.

Am I on the right track?

Merrick

P. S. I didn't read the links. . :( I'll get to it tonight. .

Yep Merrick, thats exactly what they are supposed to do. Then the music is supposed to be nice and clear without all the "back ground" noise.
