There is a noise that can be heard in my nv4500 trans in 2,3,5 - I'm not sure if I can hear it in 1 or not. The noise is not there in 4.

This is the truck I just bought and don't know much of the history on it. I know that it was used to tow - but how much or how often I'm not sure.

The noise is more noticable under acceleration, a little less on deceleration, but it is there all the time.

Anyone have anything like this before?

I'm going to pick up some transmission fluid and take off the pto cover to see if I find anything inside.

I recently had my clutch replaced. The input shaft pilot bearing was shot. I don't know if this is the cause of your noise, but I also had a noise in my transmission (especially when cold) and it is gone now that the bearing has been replaced.

Sounds Like...

A bearing on the counter shaft. It could also be the bearing between the input shaft and the main shaft. In 4th (and 5th if I'm thinking of this right) the counter shaft has no load and the input and main shafts are locked together.

Sounds like new bearing time. :(
