Need To Install Muffler, Neighbors Complaining

I have been driving my new crew cab conversion for the last few days and have been camparing the noise level inside the cab to my OEM 92 CTD. The noise level seems much higher. I put dyno-mat on the floor, undercoated the bottom of the floor. Any of you other conversion guys had this problem. The hood pad is missing right now. I plan to put it on when I paint the truck.

Just looking at my stock truck it appears there is insulation on firewall. That could be where a lot of noise would be at.

Klye, the exhaust is fine. Do you have a hood insulation pad on your truck? Next I will start on the firewall both inside and out. I wonder if the headliner might make a diff.

No pad, Just lots of steel. Have OEM 1985 Rubber floor mat(soon adding new carpeting). I did install the 1991 inside firewall insulation from the donor truck, still looking for the engine compartment heater box cover for the Cummins. Noise level is not bad, can talk on cell phone with no trouble.

I guess I am just used to my 92. it is quiet. Next time I go to the wrecking yard I will pick up a heater box insulation pad for you. Mark

I bought the same stuff from B-Quiet and did the floors under the carpet. They make some stuff out of foam that I will put under the hood and maybe on the firewall.
