For more comparison, measured my 92 Dodge CTD, it's got 35" muds and 2" lift. Got a reading of 82 db, A scale at 65 mph on the freeway. That's 5 db quieter that the Scout right now. I'll be quieting the Dodge down too.

Up date on sound deadening

Over this Christmass Holiday I got the spray gun out for the QuietCar and sprayed the under side of my spare hood for the Scout. I did the max coating building it up to 3mm thick in two application. The Hood was a little heaver but didn't break the hinges when I installed it on the Scout.

The sound level on both sides went down 1 DB to 83db. The front reading remained the same at 87dp. This is all on the A scale.

In side at idle the level was the same as before at 74db. But at 65 mph on the freeway (same streach) the level was 84 db, that's a 3 db decrease for only coating the hood. If I only had the sheetmetal welded up on the floor boards I'd be coating the insides!

I did have to run two small (1hp) air compressors in parallel to keep up the air volume for the air gun. Other than that the spraying was easy.

Here's a pic of the previous and the new hood.
