Ok, I was going up a 7% grade following my cousin towing the same weight with his 460. We get about 1 1/2 miles up the grade and my truck starts sounding like I have just installed mud tires or the fan clutch is kicking in. Since I had not towed with this truck before I'm concerned what it was. At that moment the temp was between the 190 and next line (220)? Any idea what it was as it happened a couple of more times when I was under a load later too.

And yes the temp was above 190 then too.

I was keeping up with my cousin till then, I was running about 2500rpm steady under full throttle around 45mph... . Not knowing what that noise is I was not taking any chances until I get my gauges installed either.

Any ideas would be of great help here too. Thanks.

Fan clutch engaging. About the only time I hear it is on a long grade when towing our 16,000 GVWR 5th wheel. Perfectly normal.
