Noise when accelerating or braking

I get a clunking noise when I accelerate (not to heavy of acceleration) and when I come to a stop. I have no play in either shaft and the clunking is every now and again.

Probably u joints. There may not be any play in the joints but they are still shot. Usually they are dry as they just put a hint of grease in them. If you do a search on here there are lots of threads on u joints.

 

[Rollin' Heavy]

I just replaced the u-joints in both the drivelines. I have the braking vibration only. I the u-joint was seized. It was fun getting out! But I got them out and now the truck drives like a new truck! Hope this helps!
