I Have a 2004, quadcab short bow,4x4 ,Calif, 235hp with auto, X-monitor, 4 inch exhast with replacement muffler, Stage 1 AFE, and the Van Akken box c-3-1, I was towing my trailer 9000 lb. with a quad in the truck bed, the box was set on the 50% setting and while under normal throttle load going up a slight grade the auto was shifting up ( thrid or fourth ) and the intake nosie changed as the shift took place and there was a loud bang nosie coming from the air filter ? It happened three times and I then placed the box back to the stock setting. It did not happen again. As the auto shifted the air intake nosie was something I have not heard before and sounded like for lack of better discripition rushing air that got louder and louder for a second and then a loud pop and back to normal. No loss of power since. Any Ideas ????? I am some what affarid to use the box now ?

It may have been turbo bark. If I understand correctly turbo bark happens when your turbo has built a lot of boost and the transmission shifts before the waste gate opens and the boost is forced out the front and back sides of the turbo. Which makes a loud whossing barking kind of sound. I have a manual and I can basically make it do it any time I want. I have been told that its not great for the turbo but if it happens every once in a while than it should be ok. If I am wrong I'm sure some one will post and correct me.
