Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Noisy Turbo

I have recently noticed a different noise I am sure is coming from the turbo. Put the stock air box back on and did not lessen the loudness. Sounds like a rough whine. More noticeable around 1500 rpm's and no load, little or no boost.

Removed the inlet hose and shut the engine down at 1500 rpms and watched and listened as it slowed down. Sure seems to be the culprit. There is no endplay in the shaft but enough to feel up and down. Only 130k and still makes 35 psi quickly.

Any suggestions?

Only did the slowdown check once. Don't think any damage was done due to lack of oil pressure for the 15 secs or so. Noise was there before anyway.

When a clamp on my turbo hose leading to the intercooler loosened I got quite a bit of turbo noise. It still made good boost, but that littel bit of air leaking out made a lot of noise. Recheck all your clamps and look for potential leaks.
