I remember years ago when buying a car that there were several companies (not associated with the car companies) selling service 'plans' that would reimburse you for service done out of warranty. Kind of a 'service' insurance plan.

Do these still exist? Would they cover damage potentially associated with 'BOMBing' activities?

Yes, they still exist. They primarily send you something in the mail after you buy a new car or truck... and there are plans you can purchase at lots of used car dealers...
BUT... . while all these, including the Chrysler extended service plans, are all called "warranties" they are nothing more than an insurance plan... these companies take your money and pray you won't have trouble... You'd be much better off to set up a savings account and deposit the money in it, and add to it whenever possible. 2 or 3 thousand makes a nice little safety cushion, and it's there for you to use, BOMBed or not, high mileage or not... .
Why give these people 500 to 1500 of your hard-earned money, that they can walk away with after you hit 100,000 trouble free miles? The odds are very much in your favor !

My insurance company offers a 7 year mechanical breakdown coverage for $27 every 6 months. There is a $250 deductible and the coverage will expire if/when I sell the vehicle.
