Some years back there was an article in the Tdr about installing the (back then) later cross flow design rad into the earlier trucks. The article had a parts list for the fan mount, themo stat housing, upper rad mounting brackets. hoses and fan shroud. It also showed how to make the mounts to support the rad. I did the upgrade on my 89. Before I did the upgrade I was ripping the solid mounting flanges off the rad. Roads are a bit rough here in Ny. The Cross flow rad also helped it on hot days when towing. I want to say that the article was in the first or 2nd year of the Tdr???

Yes, you are correct. It was in the first year or two of the TDR Magazine and I had a copy of that article stored for a long time in MS Word to assist another member with installing a cross flow radiator. Unfortunately, I didn't save it to a disk/CD and that computer died long ago and I no longer have it in my files. I just looked... #@$%!

My "TDR library" is complete and goes back to Issue 1. If you (the OP) don't find anything, or get an answer, let me know with a Private Message, and I'll find the article again; however, it may take a some time. :)

Try DTR (Diesel Truck Resource). In their 1st Gen section under FAQ you will find what you need. There is a link titled "Inter Cooled style grill install on non intercooled truck" the link works from there but I cannot make it work from here.
