Archived Non-illuminated gauge cluster

I installed some new illuminated dipricol gauges on my a-piller and I tapped the illumination fuse on the fuse panel inside the cab. When I went to turn them on the 5A fuse blew. I checked my wiring and I had some wires crossed-fixed them replaced fuse and now the light for my speedo & tach does not come on. I checked to see if the illumination fuse was getting 12vdc power and it is not. Anyone have any suggestions of where else to check. I can't see how fast I am going at night! The dipricol gauges are now getting power from the accessory power so they are on all the time.

Check your headlight switch. I did something similiar and it not only blew the fuse but the headlight switch.

As I understand it the lights, radio and gauge cluster all come from the main master fuse in the PDC. My lights and radio still work

I found the wire coming off the headlight switch that controls the dimmer operation (it has been tan in my 1st Gens). It isnt much help right now, but for when you get the rest of it fixed, it is something to consider. Might hlep keep the load off the 5amp fuse (?)

Well I found the culprit... it was a blown 15A fuse in the PDC under the hood. Had to wipe 115,000 miles of dust off the fuses to see them but it was blown bigger than Dallas. I replaced it and now I have lights on the gauge cluster
