For you guys running the early, non-intercooled engine, is the outlet of your turbo machined or is there a hose that clamps onto the turbo outlet?

Does this type of compressor outlet look familiar to anyone?

Carl

Yep doesn't have the lip and odd ball clamp that attaches to the short cast elbow. Not sure on outlet diameter though. Why what ya conjuring up?

Oh nothing. I just so happen to have a brand new HX-35 sitting in my garage. Was just trying to fidure out what it would fit. Trying to do a little house cleaning. Kinda forgot about this one.

Carl

That is not a 1st gen non intercooled inlet. I have one in my garage and it only has a 2" inlet. The housing is also machined different and has a different look to.

The casting numbers showing on the turbo main section are not cast into a H1C.

The inlet also is held on with a large band clamp that the turbo in the pic does not have.

I don't know what that turbo is for. But it isn't a H1C used on a 1st gen eather intercooled or not.

If I had my camera I could post some pic's. But it is one state away right now.

I never said it was a H1C. The turbo is a HX35. I'm just trying to figure out if it would work for someone WITH a non-intercooled 1st gen.

Carl

It could be made to work. They would need to adapt down to the 2" outlet that the H1C uses. But that wouldn't be hard to do. An exhaust reducer would work.

Being a HX35 it would fit the hot side housing with no problems.

Better watch out. I bet your PM box gets flooded from the nonintercooled owners. :D

I know the hot side will work just fine. That is why I got the thing. :D I'm putting the non-wastegated 14 housing on my rig! It's already ported and ready to to in, along with a specially made 3 1/2" downpipe. ;)

Carl

It will take a bit of fiddling to work but it is a better turbo, it's worth the time.

Also, if you haven't been made aware, the earlier trucks are prone to head cracking if they get hot. Watch your temps closely on an early truck and definitely stick to the old 1200*F max temp rule.

pastor bob...

Don't worry Pastor B, I'm not using the thing. I got the part I wanted (14cm nonwastegated exhaust housing) and am selling the rest. I have my PDR modified HX-35 on my rig.
