Regarding: 1996 2500, factory stock, 205,000 miles, purchased 10 months ago.

I would like to replace the WIF Fleetguard FS1253 fuel filter with one that is compatible with the CTD but does not use the WIF sensor/drain assembly. In researching I found that the WIX 33391 will physically spin on - correct thread size and housing and gasket dimensions. However, it does not use the extra square cut o-ring/gasket that the Fleetguard FS1253 seems to require. The Fleetguard part number cross for the WIX 33391 (I want to stay with Fleetguard if possible) is FF5282. When I called Fleetguard tech for more info about using the FF5282 in place of the FS1253 they cautioned that it has approximately half the flow rate of the FS1253 - 31. 5 gpm for the FF5282 (also WIX 33391?) vs 61 gph for the FS1253. The FF5282 also has a finer micron rating.

My questions to anyone that has switched to the WIX 33391 (or Fleetguard FF5282) are: How has it worked out? Any change in performance? Did you leave the square cut o-ring/gasket from the OEM filter in place?

Thanks in advance for any reply's.
