LSTDR March Meeting

Hello all,:D

As some of you may already know we are hot and heavy into the planing stages of the 2002 NORCAL Diesel Rally.

In previous years the rally was pretty much ran by one man, Ken Eckler, many of you may know him here and from various diesel sites as BigJake. Kens father passed away recently and ken has his hands full with taking care of his mother and estate issues. He has asked some of us up here to take it over and dedicate our time to ensure the event lives on.

:D And live on it will, there are four or five of us that have formed a board and will be contributing a lot of time on this event and I feel it will be one of if not the largest diesel truck event of 2002

The location of this years event will be the NAPA Valley Expo Center http://www.napavalleyexpo.com/ a huge facility located right in the heart of NAPA.

Mark your calendars it will be from Friday July 5th, to Sunday July 7th, (that's right 4th of July weekend)

As I said earlier, this is going to be a huge event. We have talked to and recieved verbal confrimations from over 25 Vendors, 10 diffrent major manufactures, and secured several non-diesel related displays. We are shooting for 100 vendor booths and are a quarter of the way there already. As this event approaches don't be suprised if you hear about it over the radio.

Unlike previous NORCAL rally's this year we hope to have Sled Pulls, Mud Boggs, Burn Out contests, plus much much more.

I am on the board and have been tasked to bring in what the Dodge guy's want. This is where you all come in, I need some ideas as to what you all want to see, or do, at this event. Please give me some feedback either here or at svorhees@cwo.com

The official web page for this event is at http://www.norcaldieselrally.com/ and it should be updated this weekend to include the names of the vendors and manufacturers who will be there at the event. You can also sign up to have an e-mail sent to you everytime we update the site.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS GUY"S, BY PROVIDING SOME FEED BACK ON WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE

Thanks Scott

Chris,

Yes it is, we have been working hard on it. I will be posting an electronic type flyer in about two weeks with more details.

If anybody knows of some local vendors in there area who would like travel up for that weekend and set up booth, maybe sell us boyz some truck products at show prices, have them contact me.

Thanks,

Scott

As someone new to the "family", if you could get some industry professionals to speak/demo on behalf of the different oil kits, engine mods, turbos, suspensions... it's one thing to have a booth it's another to be instructed by manufacturer. I'm sure that most of you out there are already well versed in all the latest hop-ups and life-extenders, but for new people it's a full time job to make heads or tails of it. Some hands-on would be kool. Perhaps you could get some of the participants to show-off their rig in order to see how it looks installed. Kind of a "kick the tires" sort of demo. I know the logistics are difficult, but as a new guy that's what I would like to see. Count on me and my truck being there.

Stoutscout,

Not a problem we will most definatly have demo's, and discussion groups. as far as seeing mods on the rigs you won't have any problems there either, plenty of local truck owners already have tons of mods in there viehcle's. but most vendors are set up just for this type of event, and will comonly have display's as well cut away parts picture albums etc.

Keep the ideas flowing fella's

Thanks

Scott

New web page

Okay guy's the web page got a new face lift last night, and we will be putting in some info soon.

I myself notified over 50 vendors and manufactures in the last two days. :D There are still two or three more people notifying as well.

Scott, :D

Scott,

I cannot believe, nor do I think it is intentional, but it appears wives think they and the kids are not really welcome, or they will have nothing to do. :( Events of this type focus so heavily on the “Diesel Rally”.

My wife has gone to a couple of Diesel events, and says she feels out of place because there are no other wives, and they are strictly guy events.

Yes it’s a "Diesel Rally”, but lets face reality here, without support at home, we cannot BOMB anything. ;)

I had the privilege to speak to Big Jake :) . He advised me that in times past, there were many non-Diesel activities. Perhaps they should be in the advertisement?

Just a thought.

Wayne,

I agree with you 100%, my wife feels the same way, the boy goes with me to some but it would be nice if the wives had more to do. We have thought of this and are or will be working on non-diesel events. Already have some ideas but we haven't spent the time on them just yet we are making sure that truck part is secure right now, signing contracts, working vendors, and re-doing the web page(wich may be why it won't load I will pass to our web master Zipp) I will have them add a section to the web page for the non-truck related events.

We will have several non truck related events though, and even the location should help as well, lots of things to do in NAPA.

Thanks for the suggestions, it's a good one, and will do !!!

Scott

Currently trying to get ahold of Skyjacker to see if they will do a rock crawl show.

for the kids some of the stuff we are working on is:

Dunk tank

rock climbing wall

and we located a large Dodge Truck jumper

Any ideas ?

Scott

Chris, there is going to be pony rides I forgot to mention that sorry. one of the guys helping us out this year Mike breads, races, shows horses. there is going to be alot of "Cowboy" stuff going on that is his portion of the event last I talked to him he was going to call about an electric bucking bronco.

Like I keep saying, this is going to be one big show !!!

Keep the ideas flowing.

thanks, Scott!!!!

Thanks for getting the info out here on the TDR page!!

I have been meaning to get over here to let folks know what was going on with the rally that has been one of my passions the past few years.

I am glad to see that the message is getting out on this site as well.

I did lose my Dad on December 1, he died of a massive stroke during heart-bypass surgery (totally unexpected), my sister suffered double aneurysms just 3 weeks after last year's NORCAL and is still in recovery, thus you can see I have had to drop the rally to devote all my energies to taking care of the family.

I feel quite confident that Scott and the rest of the RALLY BOARD are going to put on one heck of an event, I plan to be there and I hope to meet many more folks from the TDR site as well.

NORCAL UPDATE

Okay folks, I have a little update. We had a meeting this weekend and I passed some info on non-diesel events for the kids.

The Cowboys in the group will be providing hay rides, and pony rides.

I have also secured the large 17' x 17' monster truck jumper for the kids, and are looking at the Jarasic Park adventure as well. check them out HERE We will also have the three person rock climbing wall. And I am currently working on getting a Coast Guard Search and Rescue helicopter to do a static display.

As you can see we are dedicated to making this a family event and hope you and your family can make it to NAPA (wine country :D ) in July.

We have also made a request to Skyjacker to bring there rock crawl road show in as well will keep you posted on that if we can get a comitment.

This looks like the show to be at. I think you guys contacted my parents about coming. Hopefully we can make it, You guys are doing an awesome job. My hat goes off to everyone involved, it's nice to see an event that the entire family can enjoy. :) Maybe we can bring the race car and take some of the kids for a ride around the parking lot. You think anyone would be interested if we could do it. Let me know.

Scott:

Thanks for the update, looks like you guys are doing a great job!!!! I am glad to see it will still be a family event. It should also be pointed out that if our significant others don't want to spend time at the rally, the Napa Wine Train runs right outside the fairgrounds and runs up the valley, also there is lots of shopping and restaurants in downtown Napa.

You guys will be taking your brides and families into the Napa Valley on a holiday weekend, use your imagination!!!!!!!

Put her on a hot air balloon, winery tours..... lots to see and do in the Napa Valley

Excellent

Stefan,

I did contact your parents and it would be great if you all could make it down. The race car thing would be awesome, I would think the kids would be lined up for that ride, okay some of us grown ups too. Let me run it by the rest of the guys and see what we can come up with. probably have some insurance issues as we are having with about everything else but are working them out.

Just to let you all know, the list of people working on this event is getting larger and larger as is the event itself. In the next couple of weeks we will be dividing into commities and each commitie will be assigned a specific task or section of the event to handle. The contracts with the NAPA Valley Exspo Center where signed last week as well.
