I'm hoping this means you got the latest e-mail? When it gets close we'll need to work out a convoy route and schedule. Jeff

We have limited space at the campground, we are also having trouble getting the campground to respond to reservations that have already been called in to the campground. I don't want to turn anybody away, but the details of this event were sent out to members of the "NORCAL DIESELS" group that regularly meets here in Sacramento by email.

This is meant to be a return to an "old-fashioned" event that I used to host a few years back. I want to give all those who used to attend a little heads up so they can reserve a campsite before I open it up to all.

I promise there is no "secret squirrel" stuff going on here, and I will make everything public as soon as I can.

we are also working on some "extra-curricular activities " at a nearby venue.

I urge all of you who have received the invite to this event to act fast if you need RV or tent space, as I can't keep the lid on this for too much longer.

Sorry it took so long to get this updated, but my work schedule has been so hectic its hard to find time.

HERE IS THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT:

we will be getting together the weekend of

JULY 30- AUGUST 1, 2004

for an old-fashioned camp-out style rally like we used to have a few years back.

the location will be at

LONG RAVINE RESORT

on Rollins Lake, 50 miles NE of Sacramento just off I-80.

The reason for this particular weekend was I had a request for a get together from a guy over on the FORD site who has attended every NORCAL we ever put together, even taking leave from his job on active duty at the military hospital in Aviano, Italy to fly out for past events we had at both Rollins Lake and the big rally we did a few years back in Napa.

While on active duty in both Aviano and Ramstein, Germany, Denny put on lots of diesel-related get togethers for the troops and the locals, as he had his POWERSTROKE shipped overseas so he could enjoy it there.

It seems as if this guy (DENNY SERIE) and his wife, COLONEL JANE SERIE, (Chief of Medicine at the military hospital at RAMSTEIN, GERMANY) have recently retired from active military duty and have returned Stateside.

They are currently travelling across country and will be passing thru our area at the end of July enroute to their retirement home somewhere in Alaska.

I can think of no finer way to welcome the SERIEs back Stateside and to thank them for their military service to the Country and for looking after our injured and ill troops abroad.

Long Ravine resort is one that we have used in the past and the campground staff remembers us well and are ready to welcome us back.

When you call the resort at (530) 346-6166, ask for Louise and tell her you are with

THE NORCAL DIESELS.

For those of you who want a little more action, we will also be having a dyno event the same weekend at

BROWNS VALLEY PERFORMANCE RV

about 45 minutes away.

I would imagine that this would be the case, how much more would you want to have?

We are taking over the better part of a resort on Rollins Lake for a nice laid back camping weekend, and if that is not enough for you, you can drive 45 minutes west to Browns Valley for a dyno event.

Am I leaving something out??????

My self and my son-in-law both have reservations we have two spaces with electric hookup. Does anyone know if they have completed the new electrical system? When we went up in May and paid for the spaces they said they were going to start upgrading the electrical service. They only had 15 AMP hook up which they said would not run ACs in the RVs. They are suppose to be upgraded to 30 AMP. I doubt my wife will be a happy camper if she can't have her AC on.

Looking forward to this event I have missed the past events here but I am sure there will be a great time for all. I think we are even going to try and pull some of those planted fish out of the lake. I like to catch the fish but I don't like to eat them. So if anyone wants what I catch let me know.

Jeff I tried to Email you but no response. I am not sure if I have your correct Email address. Was the last Email the one about the picnic in Elk Grove? Also my son-in-law's wife's Email has changed to -- email address removed --. If you could change her address so she can keep getting the letters from you that would be great.

Looking forward to seeing everyone the end of this month.

We paid a visit there today, all I saw was 15 Amp. I asked the lady at the gate and she said there was no plan to upgrade that she knew of. She told me that the 15 Amp service will work on most A/C unites, unless everybody has theirs on at the same time... We changed our spot to another one without electrical and are bringing generators. The one we had would be difficult to maneuver into... it had a well scared tree where I would need to swing the truck around to get into the spot with a 27 foot trailer. So there's one electrical spot open if anybody needs it. It's E22.

Blu:

Thanks for the update and I think we have a taker for that space, by the way, to which space did you relocate?

It is all coming back to me why we decided we needed to upgrade to a different campground for these types of events.

Just look at it this way, its just a weekend and we will all have fun and make it thru just fine.

on edit for MagaliasRam:

this is a heavily treed campground and even when temperatures were way above 100 down in the valley afew years back, it never got above 82 or so under the oaks and pines, very comfortable.

Well I guess I sure got some bad info from the old guy sitting on the boat slips. He acted like he knew all there was to know about the Long Ravine CampGround. He was probably laughing his rear off as we walked back to our trucks.

Oh well I guess we will just be noisy and start the Genny up if need be.

I will be signing up a new member this month. A friend of mine just purchased a 01. 5 2500 4X4 and of course with a cummins. He is getting a hitch installed in it tomorrow. I don't know if he is going to see if he can get a space for our shindig or not. He was on the fence about ford or DODGE and after trying out both he was convinced that it had to be a Cummins. I believe his father in law is going to join also he has a 98 12 valve. If they don't come to the campground they may show up at Brownsvalley if that is still a go?

I can deal with the heat but my wife tends to go into B%t#c& mode when she gets hot. I guess I will just take her out onto the lake and dunk her once or twice. That should take care of it. :-{}

Finally got around to updating everyone,'

First of all

space #22 went to a new guy on the Ford site, the people at the campground are absolute pieces of work to deal with, they started accepting reservations from folks other than those in the NORCAL DIESELS as they said they were not getting a lot of response... ... ... .

I have had more than a few emails and PMs on a few sites saying the campground was not returning their calls and so they were not going to attend:mad:

I finally went up there and confronted them over the weekend and they didn't have much to say.

On a brighter note, we will have a pot-luck style dinner on Saturday, one of the Ford guys from the LA area will be deep frying a turkey or two and so will I , I will also be doing some seasoned curley french fries after we pull the turkey from the hot oil.

(with all the expense of the turkeys, seasonings and the frying oil, we will be accepting any donations to help with that cost. )

I will also pick up a watermelon or two, we could use some potato or pasta salads, green salad, chips and salsa, corn on the cob, if you bring it, we can cook it up as I will have two propane burners.

Maybe someone else can kick in some refreshments.

I will also be bringing up the firewood so that we can sit around and tell lies after dinner.

If anyone is interested, Sunday we can head over to

BROWNS VALLEY

and play on Blane's dyno ( for a fee, of course).

If I have left anything out and you need more info, feel free to email or PM me, this event is also publicized on

diesel -central

will look forward to meeting you there, I will be by as soon as we can break camp and get over there on Sunday morning.

I will be the guy with the air horns!!!

still lots of room at the campground, if you don't need hookups and if you can figure out a way to make a reservation, this place is now run by a bunch of airheads.   ;)

NorCal Rally & Camping 7/31 - 8/1

Hi All:

I just thought I'd drop a line to say that we'd love to join you for this outing but, our schedules won't let us. :{

I hope everyone has a fun time, the campground works out OK and it isn't too hot! ... . Have an extra Oyster for us. :D

If there is a consensus for another camp-out/get together later in the Fall before the November rains, I'd sure vote for that! With a little luck we could make it then! (Hint: my wife loves the Ocean)

Have Fun!

Hey! I stopped at Blanes today and he said he wasnt sure if he was going to have his dyno thingy now because not enough people are going to come! We need to spread the word!!! Sunday August 1st Browns Valley CA.

See you guys there!

we can probably change Blane's mind on that as well...

a few new updates:

you guys must know by now that the entire NORCAL DIESEL RALLY concept got started by me a few years back on the FORD site... ... ... .

anyway, I got a phone call the other evening from Gary Wescott from the

TURTLE EXPEDITION

and Gary and Monika would like to stop by the campground on Friday afternnoon and evening ( as they have plans in Shelter Cove on Saturday)

maybe do some burgers and dogs on the grill... .....

update#2:

our guests of honor, retiring USAF medical staff, DRs. Denny and Jane Serie are in Fallon NV visiting family and will be arriving around noon on Friday the 30th... .....

Blaine looked like he could easily have changed his mind for Sunday at his shop, (Se you guys there)!

Also September 17th and 18th in Redding dyno day and drags put on by J&h performance, spread the word.

just got an email a reliable source (KickinY2K):

the dyno thingy at Browns Valley is kind of up in the air at this point, as Blaine Myers ( the owner) may have to be out of town on this upcoming Sunday.

WE will try to keep everyone updated as best as we are able.

Everything else is still a go and I am still looking for someone to pick up 50 to 75 ears of corn ( preferably at a local fruit and produce stand like Pedrick Produce or the one on A ST in Dixon)

I would imagine the price should be around 8 to 10 ears for a buck of Dixon Sweet white corn.

Please post back or email me before 0500 AM Thursday morning if anyone can help out with this, otherwise I will pick some up on the way home Thursday nite. .

I would appreciate some help on this.
