Just installed my boost gauge and would like to run some numbers by the "pros" to see if everything is where it should be.

At idle = zero

At 2000 rpm (truck in neutral) = 2 pounds

65-70 mph steady on level ground = 5 to 6 pounds

65-70 mph climbing small grades = 7 to 12 pounds

Maximum boost (short shift from 4th to 5th and drop the hammer) = 19. 5 pounds

Driving around town and accelerating agressively = 15 to 17 pounds.

It looks like there's some sort of limit to maximum boost, it climbs quickly to 19. 5 and comes to a stop.

Do these numbers seem to be in range?

Truck is stock HO w/6 speed/3. 54 rear end...

Boost

Those numbers sound right for an unmodified truck. If you had a boost fooler or some kind of box you could get a little more boost.

Thanks for the input! The main reason for the boost gauge is to keep an eye on things. Cummins techie says it's one of the best ways to monitor health of the engine. Also a great way to watch fuel economy. I'm not going to be doing any mods to the engine that will get DC all wrapped around the axle. Besides, it still pushes me back in the seat plenty when I romp on it!:D

That's what mine were before the EZ and boost fooler.

Dead on.

Excellent! One thing I noticed was the boost stays steady at 5 pounds when cruising at freeway speeds on level ground. It doesn't start to climb until around 73 to 74 mph. I tend to do most of my freeway driving around 60 to 75, looks like I'm running in the sweet spot after all.

Sounds like you need a ride in a BOMBED TRUCK to see what fast is:D

I know there are trucks out there that are way faster than mine. But for a stock truck it still impresses people who've never rode in a CTD.

There can be a 30 to 40 HP differance even in a stock truck. When mine was TOTAL stock I ran a 244. 2 RWHP

on a dyno most were in the 190 to 210 range
