Normal clutch wear

I have 75,000 miles on my 1997 3/4 ton Ram. I tow from time to time, but never more than 6,000 lbs. What mileage should I expect to have to change the clutch? (I realize this is subjective, but I am basing my driving habits on other manual transmission cars I own and the life of their clutches with me driving) In addition, is the whole hydrualic clutch actuation system, made by AP I believe, replaced at the same time? (I don't see any place to bleed the system at)

There is not a normal life expectency on a clutch. It is only up to the driver and of corse the MODS. done to the truck. But, you can tell when the clutch is reaching it's life by where it is releasing on the peddle. Down low, lots of life. Up high, close to end of life. There are veriables like hydrolics so if you are in doubt drive at about 30 mpr. and put it into 4th or 5th and gun it. If the RPM goes up and the truck does not, get ready to do the clutch.

If you don't slip the clutch & the mods done are ratical you should get a very long life out of the clutch. I think that the stock clutch if driven with respect should run over 1/2mill.

Man I have 166,000 hard miles on mine and still have the stock clutch. So far I am dynoed at around 324 HP and rag the clutch all the time.

It was holding until I installed the DD3's today. On the way back from the fireworks show at the lake I got into some pretty heavy street racing with a friend and basically the clutch is now toast.

Until the DD3's I was holding great. I barely made it home tonight after the abuse I put it through.

I do 4 wheel drive launches from time to time and haul heavy trailers with anything from fertilizer to horses and I finally killed the stock clutch. It took more than I ever thought it would.

If you are stock, I bet it could go a long time.
