Harvey,
I and others are not obsessing over fuel mileage so we can complain about it, at least I am not.
I track my mileage and other items on my truck for a trend analysis. I use this as a base line to know if issues will arise that need to be looked at. I guess this is the engineer in me coming out. I was trained to use trend analysis to identify potential failures and to avoid them.
This is very similar to what other user are using the oil analysis from testing companies for. The testing company uses trend analysis to identify what may fail in the engine by identifying high wear items in the engine oil analysis.
I am just trying to be pro-active less expense to fix before a complete failure occurs.

Jim,
My post was intended as a comment about the thread subject in general and not intended to criticize you.
It is a subject that often comes up and always results in proving the old line that says the first liar never has a chance. No matter what someone claims someone is going to come along behind him and claim he gets higher fuel mileage.
As a result of reading many posts in TDR over the years and walking away from many dumb comments at the fuel islands over the years the subject bores me and I ignore it.
IMO there is nothing at all wrong with keeping good records and analzying trends for evidence of developing problems. I understand how engineers think.
TulsaOkie is a rare participant on fuel mileage threads and I commend him also. He appears to be a commercial hauler who knows what he is talkinga about and posted the truth. Truth is often forgotten when men gather to discuss their prowess with women, fishing, or fuel mileage.
