Has anyone toyed with a newer lift pump that doesn't drop at WOT?

Does that drop do anything to performance?

Is it something I should worry about when I bury the fuel screw when I get my EDM's??? :D

The good Pastor's sojourn into the Land of POD convinced him there was an issue when burying the fuel screw. I don't remember if he had any pressure figures but the gist if it was the pump was pushing more fuel than the pump could get. I think that was about the time he decided a bigger stick was in order.

'Course ya never know with him, he loses his stick frrequently!:D :D :D

I do plan on getting a piers cam this summer... but I thought he was making a sideways quote from Roosevelt... :D

"Speek softly but carry a big stick" type of thing...

You never know with cerberusiam... :D :p

Been a while since I heard that term, bump stick = camshaft.

Naw, I aint smart nuf to make them there sideways comments.

The good pastor is always looking for his stick, never know if he means something or the big A is sneakin' on him and he lost his cane... .....

I figure he's gonna 'annoint' me soon... ... ... . :D :D

 if you get many more gauges in there you might not be able to see out the windshield!! what would be ideal is a computer that would monitor all these critical points and let you down load a log sheet to your pc every so often and show trends and stuff! this would work really well when changes were made!

He!!, Chris, you're smart enough to come up with a program for that. Give you something to do on slow days.

:D

I have taken some programming classes, and I know c++... but that would just be a PITA! I would need a processor unit and all kinds of other crap...

That would suck.

... I HEARD THAT... !!! :D:D:D:D... .

Ok, the "manual" says the VE is good with PSI as low as 3psi... ya right !!!! what do they know... see they weren't thinking of that pressure applying to a 3K RPM run... I don't know were their heads were at... . errrr, maybe I do. . :D:D

Ok, if you have a stable supply at 8-10psi then even at WOT (3450 engine RPM... I got it right this time. . ) the VE will do it's job...

We ran the supply pressure for fits and giggles, up as high as 18-20psi on the stand. No difference was noted in the pump performance. There is a drop in CC/1000 as you go up in the RPM band which I feel is governor related. While there was some discrepancy between a "test pump" and my personal "on truck" pump, they both exhibit similar behaviour to a degree. .

Because were running the thing up to very high RPM's we didn't deliberately reduce the supply pressures to cause possible failure or damage. It was a test to determine, among a bunch of other things, supply side variations and/or results from higher supply pressures on the VE.

I've also come to learn that the operating pressure of the VE needs to be corrected a bit... they will run from 4,000 PSI to as much as 10,000 PSI.

I have no physical, test bench, numbers to prove it to you, only info from manual(s) and other experienced persons.

Pastor Bob... .

Ya know, thats not a half bad idea. A small onboard PLC to monitor the vitals with a Blue Tooth interface for down loading and displaying the current readings is not rocket science. Using a color iPac mounted on velcro to gather and display the readings would be kinda cool. Lets see, PLC with enough memory, probes with a published range of output, small foot print software for the PDU. I have access to the software and I bet the local Radio Shack has the rest of the hard pieces. If BD and a couple of others can do it with multiple gauges it should be doable. I haven't done anything really geeky lately and this has so many useful possibilities. I need to do some research. Film at 11.
