I just installed an Isspro R3707G Gauge and R658s pyrometer that I got new off of ebay. I installed it pre turbo. I'm wondering if it is reading low?

Min reading is 100f and it tends to stay at that temperature at idle. When I hit the gas on the road, it spikes above 300 and goes down after I come up to speed. Shouldnt I expect a higher reading than 100F at idle? Probe looks like it is about 1/2" into the exhaust stream.

That sounds normal to me, of course, depending on what mods you have done to the engine. Fill out your sig and let us know what has been done, if anything, to your engine. I doubt anything is wrong with your gauge or probe.

Disagree

My '01 truck when stock idled at 300*f and ran between 500-800* on the highway depending on load and speed. This is pre turbo.

100 degrees is near ambient air temperature! You can hold 100* in your hand, I sure wouldn't want to put my hand on the exhaust manifold while the engine is running, It is around 300+.

Either your gauge is bad or the probe is bad.

Most trucks won't cool down below 350-400* when idling with the A/C on, and around 400-450 if it is an automatic and in gear.

Hope this helps Greg L.

I get basically the exact same readings...

Sorry, there onstottc

I misunderstood your wording. You should not be seeing 300 max @ WOT. It should be way higher than that as others have stated. I thought you saw higher than 300 according to your first post and your idle temp was a little funky.

Well, hope that new thermocouple works better, if not, you actually may have low EGTs and some other issue.

ALso check the connections and the lead wire. I had my LW come almost in two at the connector, and it resulted in funky readings- it'd bounce all over the place. Got out the soldering gun, and it seems to be ok now. THis is my first EV series pyro, and it has been a bit of a PITA, but at least I can see it at night.

Maybe the Isspro guage is 'metric'! 300 C is 572 F

I see 250-300 at idle, and 900-1000 under 24 lbs of boost, with average cruise temp at 650-700 F.

Isspro sent me a new gauge and electronics box which I installed last night. Actually, I did not mind reinstalling because on hindsight, I was able to route the wires more cleanly.

Now I get about 275 at idle and it varies on the road.

Oh, and check out what I did to my thumb with a hole saw when I was drilling the pillar plastic for the gauge wiring last week. I had to have my tendon sewn up.

Upon startup my Isspro gauges hold low below 300*. After the engine has rev`ed, truck moved down the road, the gauge goes above 500* and higheer depending on the placement of the throttle. WOT, I can get to 1500*. When I park to let it cool down, it takes a few minutes for the temp to get lower than 300*. I mounted my pyro pre-turbo, and screwed the thermo down to touch the bottom of the manifold, then backed off a few turns.
