The KDP jig kit that I maintain currently has an empty list.

Though the jig is labelled 'NorthEast', it can and has gone cross country, no problem.

The jig is free to use, all you are responsible for is shipping+insurance to the next guy. It comes with full color instructions, special tools, and a screw to pin the KDP. All that is needed are simple hand tools, and a drill (right angle recommended). Takes about 1-2hrs depending on skill level. .

So, if you need to take care of the KDP asap, PM me and I can get the jig to you.

tnx

I would definitely be interested in this as well, Im located in NJ. I need to install a new radiator I assume it would be smart to do this at the same time.

Is there anything else to do while Id be in there to eliminate any future problem etc. ?

thanks

If you are going to be pulling the radiator, then I'd tab the KDP... That's 60% of the job. Getting the overflow, washer bottle, fan shroud out. The gear case cover is easy to get off and on. Plus you get to check and tighten other stuff that might have worked its way loose, put a new front crank seal in. And if the pin has walked out some, you can bang it back home. The JIG method doesn't allow for that... ...

I just did mine today and its not nearly as scary as it may sound.

My 2 cents.

This is going to sound completely stupid, but whats the difference between the tab and the jig or is there?

By the way what amsoil air filter is that? Is it for the cummins specifically or is it ordered off a part #

thank you

Amsoil #EaaU4090, its sort of universal fit. so you might have to do some adapting to get the diameter of the factory elbow to hook up with the diameter of the amsoil filter.

Do a search on the Jig method versus the tab method. Completely different approaches, which when executed yield the same result = contain the dowel pin.

the difference is, the jig requires waiting for a special tool, and if your KDP has backed out too much, you have to pull the front cover, drive it back in and tab it...

also, if you use the jig, you lose the opportunity to locktite and re-torque all of the timing case bolts that have been known to back out and cause similar damage as the KDP.

also, if you use the jig, you have to pay shipping/insurance to the next person. if you use the tab method, you need a $2 tab or a 40 cent fender washer that's ground oblong and a $3 tube of gray silicone

Wow talk about bringing a thread back from the dead... this one snuck up on me

Those interested, I`ll be PM'ing you...

tnx
