Drag Diesel Sneaking Down to SoCal for the weekend (1/13 - 1/15)

So Cal Dyno Day 12/17

I know there's Imlers events about twice per year. I think Rpm had an event about a year ago. Browns Valley RV had one a couple years ago. NSR had one earlier this year. Is that often enough? Or are you guys interested in having them more often? What about smaller events, say 10 to 15 trucks or less? I'm just curious how other people feel about it.

I would be up for about 1-2 dyno's a year. I don't make enough motor changes to warrant anymore. Also I must factor in the cost of fuel, food, dyno, and motel.

About 18 months ago J&H Performance and Full Throttle put on a 2 day dyno in Redding CA. It started Friday evening and continued through Saturday. That Saturday evening, most of us went to street legal drag races. The drag strip and J&H organized it so that our trucks had two separate lanes to compete against each other. I really enjoyed that event. Since I usually have to travel so far, it was nice to have it last longer than 8-5.

I have been talking with Brad at RPM on dates he was leaning toward the end of Jan, how does the 28th sound to you guy's ?

RPM's = Annually usally in Jan

Imlers's = Semi-Annually April & Nov

Now that Brad Ponci has access to a nice dyno up in Fortuna, I am sure he will be putting on event sometime in the near future as well.

Hey Scott, the 28th sounds good to me.

RonA if you could get dynos set up then do it. They are always a good turnout around here and they are fun to go to and meet everybody and see what everybody is running. Hopefully J&H does another 2dayer with some drag racing again, that sounds like fun. Also Rick (runamuk) the northern CA DTR chapter president has a few in the works for 06.

Ron, thanks for callin as always nice to hear from ya! As you know that nsr is now S. O. L. :-laf If you are asking if another dyno in the area turned up I would do anything I could to help support diesel events. On a side note I have heard that Jeff's truck service up that way somewhere is looking a purchasing a dyno, may want to talk to Jim (magalia'sram) about that.

There is a place in Auburn that has a dyno. It's called Car & Truck Pros. There number is 530-888-8862, maybe you could give them a call?

Nice talking to you Jeff. I have been thinking about buying the dyno that NSR had. It would fit in my shop building at home. I would probably save PDR and a few others alot of grief if i could dyno and answer my own questions. I have a bit of room for parking and I would consider it if i could dyno 2 or 3 vehicles a week at $50 each. I doubt that is possible as i am not in a great area. the 12k Rotary lift that comes with it would be handy from time to time also. :) I'll think about it. I am not sure Browns Valley RV is even planning to get theirs fixed.

If Blaine is going to get his fixed, I wouldn't even consider getting this one. That is great news. Let me know when you're going to be there and I'll drop by for a minute. I always enjoy watching someone else work.

Ron

Hey Ron,when you come up for your appoinment we can do a before and after dyno if you wish. Let me know so i can call and get a spot on the books.

Thanks for the offer Brad. I don't think I will be ready for a dyno run by then. I've got to figure out something for a clutch and find out why my motor mounts have been breaking.

I have been kicking blaine in the ***** to buy the parts for his dyno then he finally did but it has taken him forever to finish the job. I started giving his kids a bad time the last few weekends up at La Porte and I think its finally going to come together. Count me in for whatever guys!

28th sounds great...

I should have my toys installed by then :D

Jeff's Truck in Chico has purchased a Mustang in-ground Dyno. He is having some permit problems but as soon as they are cleared up installation will begin. He is keeping me informed on his progress. Once installed he is planning to have a large event sponsored by Feather River Rattlers and Jeffs Truck Service. This will be a catered event. Keep in mind that you could see some Three Axle Tractors on the rollers also. He said the Dyno will be capable of running the "Big Rigs" this should be intersting.

I wish NSR had not got the short end of the stick from a previous Land Lord I think that was a good first year event and could have grown.

I will keep you guys posted of any updates from Jeff's. I had previously mentioned a Drag Strip going in at a location in Oroville, Ca. I have not heard anything else from my source so I would consider that a no go for now.

Anyone interested in trying another meet and greet here in the far north part of Northern Cal let me know and we can try and set up another one. I am still trying to keep the Feather River Rattlers from dieing. In fact if anyone is interested a few of us up here in the Oroville area are thinking of entering in next December's local Christmas Lights Parade. That was a pretty big event this year. I would like to blow a little smoke along with lighting up the trucks. We are thinking of some music and carolers in the back of the trucks also. Any takers?

I got an e-mail this morning from a guy who's working on Blaines dyno. It is just about done. As far as a meeting goes. Just say when.

I was at Blanes new place in La Porte over new years and I was raggin on him to get in gear with the dyno, He said he was really going to get it going soon, looks like it worked! Either the nagging or all the cocktails we had over the course of the day!

I also told him to sponsor my truck, Twins, a DD clutch, some more fuel, but he didnt really go for that one, even after the drinks!

Well I am always up for a dyno day. Have some new pump parts on the way, but it doesnt look like I will get them in until sometime in Feb. Oh well I will run what I have. Dont forget Winspeed had a event down in the bay area. I havent heard if there is going to be more down there though. I guess I will ask him at RPM's dyno day.
