:( before ordering my x-monitor i called the company to ask if the monitors were year specific and that i had a 2004. 5. the reply was no and you only had to set the right code. well, you guessed it- after install it wouldn't accept the correct code. called the factory and was told i had a box that wasnt programed for a 2004. 5 and it needed to be sent back (at my expense )to be reflashed . when i tried to get an authorization # to return it ,i got some jerk that said it didn't need to be reflashed (totally ignored the fact the code for my year as stated on their web site didn't exist in my computer box) . still fighting for a resolution. in addition , even at the highest setting its near impossible in daylight to read the screen. boy am i sorry i forked over big $ for ths piece of junk

x-monitor

after installation you have to enter the specific code for you year and engine output . this is done through the program controls on the monitor (same buttons as you use to set alarm ,brightness ,etc. i dont know what the code is for a 03 (its in the instruction book ) but for a 2004 its 1085013 and for a 2004. 5 its 1085014. these codes are referred to as program numbers and if you have the incorrect program your readouts will be off. see previos threads about trans temps being off by 30 degrees--this is secondary to incorrect (or in my case lack of updated info in the box for the2004. 5

Gotcha, must be transmission related as the only senders you I need for the 6-speed are all manual. Learn something new everyday...

Had mine installed for about 10 months now. FP, boost, ET. Flawless so far. Surprised to hear about problems. Hope they make it right.

latest update-- got replacement chip-- correct program entered . NOW the transmission temp reads 52 degrees. this is getting old really fast

finally after a chip and a power module replacement the monitor is finally working. will now build a shade to cover the top of the display to make it readable in bright light. if i had to do it again i would get standard white face individual guages

DRNO, Regarding a hood for Your X-Monitor, what I did was go to RadioShack and buy what I believe was called a "Switch Box". It's a 2"X4" plastic box with a flat metal cover. You will not need the metal cover. I cut off one of the 4" walls and ground out all of the inside screw mounts (that hold the metal cover on). I put a curve or radius onthe 2" walls on the side where I cut the 4" wall out. I then cut an opening in the back of the box the same size as the guage window. Drilled and countersunk holes for the 4 screws that hold the guage in the housing. I painted the hood the same color as the guage panel and went to a hobby shop and bought a small bottle of flat black paint and a small brush and painted the inside of the hood, to cut down on reflections. The hood turned out pretty well. It's a little bit larger than the flat part of the guage panel but, it's not abnoxiously large. It, also, seems to work. On a recent 8000 mile trip I only remember one time getting glare off the guage glass. It works better than I thought it would. Hope this helps. Joe F.
