I know that I said when the 2011 Ram 3500 showed up I would sell the old truck but well I thought it would be easy to sell my 2005 Dodge 3500 Dually but I guess I priced it to high The last guy to look (twice) has not called back. I am going to try keeping it

You probably got burned by the high and rising price of diesel fuel. The same thing happened to me in early '08. I ordered the truck I have now in early January of '08 and began asking around about selling my '06 in February about the time diesel prices were going off the charts.

My '06 Ram dually was not quite two years old, was clean and sharp, had complete maintenance records, fairly new Michelin tires, and only 229,000 miles on the odometer. Diesel light trucks simply were not selling. I took it to a local truck wholesaler who really knew trucks. He wouldn't believe it had almost 230k miles on it until I handed him the key to turn the instrument panel on and read the odometer.

I didn't need or want it and got the dealer where I was buying the new one to get me a bid from three local wholesalers and let it go. I mentioned it on TDR but nobody wanted it. It was a hell of a nice truck, all highway miles, and had a full DTT built 48RE. It was a bargain for somebody who understood Rams with Cummins engines.

It all depends if you can find the individual who's looking for what you're selling. Due to some nerve problems in my back and left leg, I had to move from a manual to an automatic transmission, so we ordered our 2011 (see signature) on August 5, 2010 and began to advertise our 2002 HO/6-speed 3500 dually that only had 47,000 miles on the odometer and was in mint condition inside and out (it lived in the garage when it wasn't pulling our 5th wheel). I didn't get a nibble here in the TDR classifieds, but I sold it for my asking price of $17,500 on the same weekend our 2011 was delivered (September 11) to another RVer who was looking for a truck set up to pull a heavy 5th wheel - which was exactly what ours was set up to do.

I thought I had it sold, but the guy could not get financing to work. I deleted the craigslist ad this morning. I have to concentrate on work for the next 8 weeks (CPA doing tax work). I would actually prefer to keep the 2005 truck so I can leave a Slidein camper on the new truck for most of the summer. Maybe sell the '05 in the fall or early winter. Do not need to sell, but the wife would like it gone and the money put into savings or the house.



This was the pricing I used:

2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Black, Dually Quad Cab 4*4 Loaded Laramie 75K miles, lightbar, 4 offroad lights on front end, gooseneck, 2'' leveling kit, Superhitch, set up for heavy towing, great condition.



I started at 31,995

two weeks later went to 29,995

two weeks later went to 28,500



deleted craigslist ad this morning.



The 27-29K seems to match KBB for the options and mileage. And seemed to compare okay to what I found online around here.

We are planning our summer camping trips with $5/diesel in mind. Luckily we have so many great camping areas close to us in Oregon

$5 diesel fuel will put a hurt on many, many things and I don't doubt the validity of your estimate at all.

I agree with you Harvey and they take the same stance on Coal Mining,

I paid $3. 799 per gallon this morning and unfortunately expect to see it go higher. Especially with this Lybia thing going on.

Just have to grit your teeth and bear it I guess.
