The fuel milage has been slowly decreasing over the past couple of weeks, along with the h. p. I have replaced the fuel filter, checked the air filter and have run some injector cleaner through. Does anybody got any suggestions of what to take a look at?

Are your boost #'s still the same? Sounds like you could have a boost leak. Check all hoses and fittings to make sure they are tight.

Fuel Filter...?

How old is your Fuel Filter? For under $20 - replace the fuel filter and eliminate it as a possible cause.

Even a brand new filter can become clogged if you got a batch of bad fuel.

Check all hose connections on your charge air system for boost leaks and all boost hose connections between the AFC housing and your Wastegate.

Good luck.

Check your fuel shutoff solenoid. Had one today that had pretty much come apart and the only thing pulling up the lever was the rubber boot. . This one was so bad that the cust had only idle and nothing else. . Something else to try, what can it hurt. . Garth

Might be worth checking your overflow valve if yours is the original ..... Take Mcleans advice on checking your shutdown solenoid. Its probably whipped too. The boot rots out. Good luck with it;)

I appreciate all the info. I will check the fuel shutoff solenoid today after work. I had to make a 500 mile run yesterday, during the run I just babied it at about 60 mph. The fuel milage came back up to where it was when I ran 70-75 mph. It just feels like I am butting a good head wind. Anyway I will check this and get back to ya'll.

I checked the fuel solenoid and according to the Haynes manual the fuel shutdown solenoid works the way it is supposed to. How are you supposed to check for boost leaks?

Bad fuel, slipped timing, dragging brake? (had to ask:D )

Will it rev to governed speed? Any smoke? (idle or load)

-The fuel is the same that I always use, so I think that it is probably o. k.

-The back brakes are so worn they probably could not hang if they wanted to.

-Now that you mention it I don't think that it puts out as much black smoke as it used to previous to all of this happening.

-I will check and see if it revs to governing speed

-I not for shure how to check for slipped timing but will try to read up on it and check it!

-Thanks for the pointers, I'll get back to ya

george one more thing there is a screen in the bottom of your lift pump if it is cloged then you would not be getting enough fuel. it comes off real easy. if you need help let me know.

Hey I appreciate it Daniel I'll check it out. When did you get the 16 housing? Is that the numbers that you got at DFW dyno day?

Anyway had to put the not running soo hot on hold until I can figure out why the speedo & tach gauges are not working!!!! When they quit working they took third and forth gear from my p. o. s. auto trans with them

gjacobs, take a good look at the pressure hose running from the AFC to the wast gate. I just bought a truck that ran great at low rpm's and would pull hard there also, but just ran out of power on top. I could not get it to red line in gear but it would rev to red just fine in neutral. I suspected a loose clamp on the intercooler hoses but found none. then I thought it may be a bad pump :( but then I found a hole in the steel line from the AFC the waste gate. It had rubbed against the exhaust manifold and had worn almost all the way through. The guy I bought it from must have thought he had a dead truck. Im sure it did not rub through over night. It must have taken 6 to 12 months. Starting as a pin hole then growing bigger. So he lost his top end power over time. I replaced that hose and it rockets now & will pull to red line in gear with ease. fuel mileage is up from what he said it would get also.

hope this helps.

WOW took out 3 and 4 I have never heard about that. check fuses relays etc (I know you probly have but that is all I can think of unless the wireing harness is melting) I got the housing in the mid summer for towing help alittle but spool up sucks. I didn't really see a lot of egt drop like i wanted but I sure felt teh 25 hp gain (or at least a hp gain) y3eah those are the numbers I got at the last dyno I'm ordering my 191 tommarow at 8:30 piers time and having them overnighted to me. so hopefully I can put them in when I get the truck timing advanced:D . maybe then we can break the dang 15 sec barrier. .

16. 3 this past weekend that makes me so mad...
