Bombing for Maximum MPG while towing.

single rear wheels to dual rear wheels conversion

We got the trailer, needed a generator mainly to run the A/C. I borrowed a EB3000C Honda (the book on the A/C says 2500 will do), kicked the breaker on the trailer, I reset it and no motor, (fan or compressor) runs now. The unit ran real well on a 20 amp house circuit... I can usually figure out this kind of stuff.

Any ideas will be appreciated!

Well, maybe the start up surge is too high for the generator?

Maybe the generator has a wiring problem?

Maybe it was abused and isn't putting out the rated wattage?

I've had same problem.

I can back feed my whole house on a 5000 watt 6250 watt surge generator. But,once when I tried to start my central air(with everything else in the house unpluged)the lack of voltage caused my contactor points to burn up. Only $22 to replace. The points control both motors on my unit. Yours could be different.

It is best to check the frequency (60 cycles)of a gen along with the voltage. Also the gen has breakers. Try to load up the gen as close to 3000 watts as you can and check the voltage. Use an iron blow dryer and coffee maker. Should still produce over 110 volts.

Hope this helps

I agree this news group will have some good info, but there is also a bunch of Idiots there also, lot of bashing goes on there, I can't stand to hardly read it anymore.

I have a 4000 watt Generac that will run my AC, but only if I don't run the microwave or hot water heater the same time.

FIXED!!!!!

I like to hear how fellow members problems are diagnosed and fixed... this is too easy! As I may have mentioned in my first post the A/C worked fine when plugged in the house circuit and did not work on a 3000 watt gen set, it would humm and kick the trailer breaker. Well folks said startup surge is the problem, the gen is NG, all this makes sense. Then someone said critters ate their wires... humm parked under a tree I thought I should check that one out. I removed the top cover of the A/C and found a piece of real dense foam jammed in the condensor fan shroud! Gets nice and cold now... simple I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER rather than a $800 mistake. . so glad;) :D I believe the foam is/was to keep the cover from sagging.

LUCKY

Don't ya wish every problem was that easy to solve?:D

With my luck,,,,,,It would have fried the AC,,,,,,cooked the gen,,,,,,,and started a fire on the roof allowing the AC to fall into the camper, thus setting the rig and my nieghbor's house on fire.
