is it worth it?

Called D/C for the status on order today, truck is still BX. Order is 16 weeks old. Now have a B&W hitch, box full of gauges, service manual, assorted other add on for an 03, but no truck. It is looking more and more like I won't be getting one either. Am debating with myself on the way to go. Just wait, cancel the order and try to find one on a lot, or cancel the order and walk away.

I own 6 D/C produced vehicles and at this point am not a happy customer. After the call to the customer service line I don't think that D/C has the least concern about unhappy customers. Talked with the dealer they have made several calls, no results.

Not excited any more.

Call your dealer and tell them to raise hell with their zone manager or whatever. The same thing happened to me, and having my dealer yell at Dodge was the only thing that got my truck moving (it was just sitting in the computer, no one knows why). Even after all of that, it still took 4 months for my truck to show up.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your wait. There's definitely something wrong. I ordered mine Dec. 16th and I called DC today, they told me that it's D1 Status, scheduled to be built on Feb. 1st with 17 days transit.

Steve

Customer service told me that my 3500 was on it's way to the port in Vera Cruz, a couple of days later they said it was still at the factory in Satillo, later in the day the dealer called that is was being cleaned up.

I ordered it late Oct. and it was delivered Dec. 26.

It is worth the wait.

Be excited! The '03 is the best CTD I've owned by far. I've owned three others, a '91,'95, and '99.

The ride, power, and engine noise have been improved so much that it's like a totally diferent truck.

If you must, go buy one off the lot. Don't give up on the '03 CTD. It is a great truck.

I had my dealer do a search and found pretty close to the truck I wanted. Plus I only payed 1500 under what kelly bluebook says invoice say it should be. I would agree it is worth the wait. I have owned a 91,93,97, and 2003 and the 03 is very nice. I did keep the 97. Hard to get rid of a truck with 84k, it is an awsome truck. never give up on the cummins and the dodge trucks have come a long way for 1991.

dgeison, call your dealer and have them run a "function 51" and see if something you ordered is on restriction at the plant. Many times they run short of something and give the dealer a chance to change the order to get it built sooner. Also did they order it as "sold", or "for stock?" Do they have the allocation to get it built?

Just some questions you might want to ask them. Good luck, you will love it when it finally arrives.

If you ask the right question, you may find that one option you specified is on hold.

Another approach is to take a trip to a dealer who has what you want.

Still, it's  to have a window sticker that says the Ram was made especially for you. :D

Best wishes.

The 3500 have been hard to come by. I did a locate for a customer for a 6spd dually in our zone and there was only five trucks in our zone which is OR,WA,ID Western Montana and Alaska. Also have a truck on order that I placed on 11/13 and still has not gotten to KZ status which is completely built and being shipped to dealer. If your truck is in BX status then it is a good order just waiting for allocation. Also the District Manager for that dealer may be able to pull some strings to get your truck scheduled to D1 status. DC has been building more of 3500 SRW than the DRW's. Have had many customers that have said It was worth the wait. Good luck Greg:)

The salesman, the manager and the owner of the dealership had a sit down with the new zone manager and his boss about my truck and 2 others they have on order. From what I gather the zone guy got an ear full. Said that there is no reason the order is not moving and they will take it up and get it going. I should hear something by Wednesday or so. This is not the fisrt time the zone has been involved, nothing came from it before. Will see if the new guy can do better.

Ask about any part hold, was told there is none.

Told salesman if it does not get going by Friday to start looking for one on a lot.

Back to waiting.

Dave

The salesman just called to tell me that the zone manager called and my order is being moved to build status. Will call the customer service line later and see if it has moved.

Dave

Good luck. When mine finally got moved to D, the customer service people didn't show that until 2 days after it happened. But it did happen when they said.

Delivery?

Dave,

You were right about the customer service line, they give you a different answer every time you call. One week the build date is the second week of January, the next its gateline, then they don't know when it is going to be built. I don't understand how they could come up with a different story each week.

Called D/C they have my truck at D1 status with a Vin# with a build sometime in the first week of February said call back next week and will have a firm build date. It will be built in Saltillo, Mex.

Am starting to think I might actually get a truck. Has been a long time. Went to the Chicago Auto Show last Feb. and saw the 03 truck came home and canceled my order for and 02 thinking it would only be 6 or 8 months till I could get an 03. Now almost I year later I will get to see it again at the auto show before I get one.

Starting to get Excited again.

Truck finaly on the Way

Truck is on the rail and should arrive at the Centreville, IL yard on 2/7/03. 20 weeks to the day after the order was placed. Should be at the dealer sometime next week. Starting to get excited, might get it before the Chicago Auto Show on 02/16/03.

Dave

I order my truck on 12/09. I was just told it is on KZ status and it left the plant and was on its way to laredo ,Texas.
