Got any ideas how I can lose some weight fast. The reason I ask is I need a new pair of rodeo chaps, and the guy who I'm going through will be raising his rates Nov. 1st. So, I figure I need to lose around 30 pounds before then. Any yall got any ideas. Thanks
 
you like salad without dressing and uncooked vegetables... . right?



Other then that, I would say cut all sugar out of your diet. Soda and coffee mostly. That would help... It takes 3 days or so to get off of it. And bread too, works for me.

The key to weight loss is simple... . take in less calories than you use and exercise.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but you're gonna have a HARD time losing 30 lbs in that period of time... . and keeping it off is going to be your problem. Sure you can lose it... but that much weight in 5-6 weeks time is unsafe and you'll mostly be losing water weight. 2 lbs a week is safe and actually agressive weight loss that will make it easier to KEEP the weight off when you achieve your goal. So at most you'r looking a 12... MAYBE 15 lbs safely in that time period.



And DO NOT starve yourself. If your body gets to a certain point you may lose weight BUT you never lose fat cells... with that said in 'starvation' mode your body will actually produce MORE fat cells. Now... while you are starving yourself you won;t have the weight... BUT the second you are off the 'crash diet' the weight will come back to fill up your original fat cells PLUS the new ones your body produced while you were starving yourself.



Someone here said it... the best way to lose weight is to eat right (duh) and excercise so your body actually USES the calories you do intake. Hell. . if you just cut out soda (if you drink it)... a 12 pack of soda a week has MORE than a POUND of sugar in it.
 
Buy the size you want to fit into and then lose enough to fit them. Or get them to fit you the size you are now and don't diet at all.

I lost 30 pounds in about 6 weeks by A) eating a lot less food, B) lots and lots of salads - all that lettuce is mostly water!, C) using the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further away from the building, trying to get some exercise all the time, and D) drinking tons of water, with lemon juice (no sugar) instead of soda. You CAN do it, just don't starve yourself.
 
I lost 17 lbs in the 6 weeks since my shoulder surgery. I stopped all alcohol and coffee about 3 days prior and have not had a drop since. I have increased my daily water intake to 3-4 quarts a day. I have only altered my food intake slightly but am not hungary at all. Eating more fresh veggies and friut. I cut out bread and get the carbs (which a body needs) from the more friuts and veggies. EAT BREAKFAST! I usually have a bowl of oatmeal. More impotantly- be realistic about yout gaols. Do you actually carry now the 30 lbs that you want to lose? You may be asking too much from your body. Also- do not be too concerned about what the scale tells you. Muscle burns calories. If you work out then you might not lose weight, but you'll start to look the way you want. Controlling calories controls weight- resistance training developes muscles.
 
thanks guys. Being in school hasn't been too kind to me, since I'm sitting in classrooms all freakin' day. Trust me, I ain't gonna be starving myself. I just started bronc riding this year. The weight lost will help me be more flexible, so I'm looking to keep it off.
 
your body needs 15 (women 13) calories per pound of body weight to MAINTAIN that weight. so if you weigh 184#'s and consume 2760 calories a day you'll stay at 184. so as others said, eat less BUT your body still needs a balanced diet.



so, figure out what you want to weigh and multiply by 15 to get your daily calorie needs. Then figure out how to split up that # of calories into food stuff that will provide 55% carbs, 25% protein and 20% fat.



for ten days eat NOTHING except green vegetables, oranges, cantaloupe and LEAN meat and Gallons of water. that will probably drop 10-15 pounds quickly BUT then start the balanced diet outlined above to keep you healthy and working towards your goal weight.



my wife is a dietician and thats a tough burden to carry through life.
