I Have A 2003 3500 Sw Ho 5 Speed With 5 Inch Exhaust Cold Air Intake And A Quad Race Box. The Truck Has 54000 Miles On It And Gets Serviced Reguler. my Problem Is The Truck Seems To Be Losing Power. i'm Thinking Of Injectors And Lift Pump. it Has Good Power On The 60 Hp Level But Not Like It Used To On The 100 Or 140 Hp. iv'e Had The Box Three Years. any Info Would Be Helpful. in General The Truck Aint What It Used To Be ,but It Still Beats The Other Two Options. ford Or Chevrolet. thanks

If you have guages whatch the egt's. If they are falling off you know you are getting less fuel through the injectors. Over the last month my egt has been decreasing on hard acceleration and whitch was a strong indication the injectors were going bad.

I just got mine upgrade to F1 flux2 and they are insane.

Gets Serviced Regular. ;)

Have you changed your fuel filter?

Sometimes it is just being used to the power, put it back to stock, then change it again.

Probably poor fuel/lack of fuel/lack of service?

Fuel Filter? / Air Filter?

If you have personally changed these items, then forgive me, if not , that's where I would start.

I Do All Of My Own Service And It's Up To Date. I Have Tried The Stock Thing A Couple Of Times . it Just Dosn't Seem To Have The Power It Had A Year Ago.

I bet rail pressure relief valve...

After years of abuse and different pressure boxes, it was SHOT and getting worse every week

Can these relief valves be tested, or do they just have to be replaced?

tested yes. I pulled mine and started the truck, then reved to 3100 slowly and really fast popped off the throttle, thus spiking the rail (due to injectors close faster then CP3 slows down) and sending fuel all over my hood. That was around 15k I would guess (based upon testing with a DBR about 3 years ago). So blowing fuel at 15k psi is obviously no good... .

OK, I'll rephrase the question. Is there a test that a Chrysler tech can do to without replacing the valve first? I think they would frown on the test that fills the eng. comp. with fuel. :)

There is a special tool fitting that takes the place of the banjo bolt on the relief valve that you can test from. Not sure exactly how the test procedures are but I'm sure you can find something on here for them...

Another way is to take a DRB and monitor rail sensor voltage and at full throttle you would see that you were short on PSI...

I am not sure how mechanicaly you can test these valves...

I'm having the same issue with my '04. With the Diablo downloader on 100hp and the Quad box on as well I rarely see 800 degrees on the pyro, that is while accererating up hill. I have the rail capped too, so it's not the relief valve. I can't see spending 350 plus for each injector to replace them so I check my oil regular and see if the level is rising. Stupid huh?

this sounds like my truck just before we found that the trans pan had the black sand in red wine sauce. A slipping trans will show the same signs. sorry!!! hope it's not. whoops! 5 speed. clutch? have you checked battery voltage and load test them that can also zap the power. could be as simple as a bad connection power or ground
